  1. NCR is surely best for a starter company. Cheap scanner, back up on computer then shred them. Look towards improving as your client base increases.
  2. Register as an installer with Texecom
  3. Any reason why you think that? Sounds like a successful first step from what you have said.
  4. I believe transferring any security qualification you may have is the same deal. It's more like the American/Canadian market than the UK/EU market when it comes to security, from what I have been told.
  5. That's made it worse...
  6. That wasn't exactly my point, but I understand where you are coming from. How can you prove that the supply and cable is ok before you bin the detector without your meter? You have to do your best to prove the equipment/cable after a F/A. Many seem to blindly swap it out and feck off. I'm sure I have mentioned before I have been to calls were three different engineers had been and swapped the same sensor after false alarms over a month period not even thinking to check for a cable fault. Look at it from both ways. If you don't find an obvious issue you are normally best to swap it. You will be back again, if there is an issue, but this time not earning anything.
  7. Swap it, book it, feck off, seems to be standard protocol...
  8. Is there a particular reg you are thinking of that a confirmed strobe would contravene?
  9. They used an extra red one mounted adjacent, from what I read here.
  10. Keypads are on a data BUS so termination resistors will only be at each end of the data BUS.
  11. As a company you should offer all systems in writing. I don't like the layout of that Tavcom one but it is to teach applying a written specification to the installation work to be carried out.
  12. Does your company not have similar paperwork? When I did my 1851 I used my company paperwork to design the system. That was the point to understanding, seems this is simply filling boxes? I also disagreed with the design set by the course which listed shocks in the entrance area, but you have to go with it. I suppose they are trying to teach about different types of devices. Can't say I have ever seen a system design proposal with auxiliary tampers listed, but I guess that's what they want you to put there.
  13. Have you tried to contact the installer they maybe able to supply the key for you as there are a few different types.
  14. You can damage a new type CQR PA if you remove the lid while triggered
  15. I found these hush buttons to be a clever way of doing flats. If your flat is activated only your flat sounds for a period of time, you can Hush your own alarm about 3 times before a full evac is triggered. If you clear the smoke from the room within the hush button period all will reset avoiding an evac. Communal areas would as default trigger a full evac on the systems I fitted but if necessary these could be RoR detectors or controlled with C&E, all down to the RA etc.
  16. I only got to replace one of them unfortunately, I saved it for a mate that was moving house. Waste to throw it really.
  17. I don't know if they released information of how many Hik DVR's were used as Bitminers, when it happened a few years ago. As I say there's so many doing bitmining now it's less profitable.
  18. Could be worse, this happened to a few of our Premiers within a few days of each other. I arranged to get replacement SMPS, all customers got send a quote to replace the controls as "we don't replace PSU's in controls". Unhappy customers where charged for 2 hours plus a panel, about 15 months after installation.
  19. FItted systems with C-Tec Hush Buttons for this scenario, seem to work well. You end up with a mix of conventional and analogue on the same system tho.
  20. Times out if everything is clear I think, would have to check the manual.
  21. Triggering the bells clear the hold off mode?
  22. Well, makes sense now that bitmining is less profitable... Impressive what can be done with the computing power of 150k DVR's.
  23. http://securityaffairs.co/wordpress/51640/cyber-crime/tbps-ddos-attack.html
  24. TS800 you have to be further in the menu structure to stop a tamper in engineers.
