  1. Why dueltec Imran??
  2. I think you really need to try and find a basic electronics course at you local college, or a night class. Using a multimeter is the most basic elements of this industry and if you dont know how to use one, and clearly you do not, you should not be doing any work at all in this industry. Not understanding how to take basic measurements in this industry is like wondering around a crowded tube station blindfolded, your gonna bump into something sooner or later, lets hope its not a tube train. Honestly I wouldnt employ a trainee that doesnt have the basics, you would not pass our interview exam. I am giving advice here not taking the P, get on a basic electronic course once you understand the fundamentals you will have a much better understanding of whats going on. But asking us to teach you the basics is asking for trouble, because someone will rip the pss
  3. We use Ipads but there are no rules to say you have to, there are many of our customers that dont have a p.c. so we cant email them a copy if we use the ipad, so we have to do it the old fashioned way some of the time anyway. The person I use has developed the Ipad jobsheets specifically for us, and he has done some more tailored jobsheets for other companies, I think he charged about £600.00 for the initial program and then there is an ongoing charge for upgrades and web charges. If I want something added or changed he doesnt charge any extra though.
  4. May as well go to work with a blindfold on if you dont have a meter in your hand. The amount of times Ive asked engineers what the voltage is, or what current is it drawing, and they havent looked!
  5. We gave you the right answer in the first post, but because it was the answer you didnt want to hear you get upset, and say we are wrong not to help? A tx'er is a transmitter.
  6. LOL you do realise that no one apart from me and you will get the joke!
  7. Its Gaelic
  8. Aye I thought so
  9. Funny I have always read your posts in a Glaswegian accent rather than an Aberdeen one
  10. Which bit doesnt make sense the bit where you think that you can buy any old txer that will disarm your security system, or the bit where I am telling you they will be secure?
  11. I would think you need the real ones they would be rolling code and pass-worded so they cant be copied
  12. Id still swerve the G3 though
  13. Really you need advice from an engineer on that. I havent installed a door contact for about 15 years, I employ a bunch of engineers that do that sort of thing. I am sure there will be one along sooner or later I cant believe I am the only one thats commented so far
  14. G2 Knight Security, CQR, or Elmdean there isnt a good or bad brand of door contact just make sure you get the ones with the correct EOL's for your brand of panel. http://www.knightfireandsecurity.com/catalogue.asp?id=4
  15. Are you likely to be targetted by professional burglars? When I say professional I mean burglars that will try to circumvent your alarm system before breaking in? If you are you should not be Diying, you need proper monitoring for starters. If your not, then swerve G3 especially with door contacts. If your fitting G3 everyday and you know what your doing with them they hardly ever become a problem, I say hardly ever but we attend to far more g3 contacts that go wrong than g2. If your risk is average G2 is the one you want, Anti Mask is fine for pubs or buildings open to the public, but think about it, how is any burglar gonna get in your house whilst the alarm is unset and mask all your detectors without you noticing?
  16. Just because it has a high number (In comparison to G1 G2) its not necessarily the best, fitting G3 in many cases makes the system less reliable. G3 contacts are sided and are much less forgiving when you mount them the alignment and gaps have to be much tighter. What's the risk?
  17. Why do you want Grade 3?
  18. welcome
  19. Ive been into this for some time now, back when I was an engineer my G500 was controlling my heating, curtains, lights, and, various other bits via Galaxy Gold. When I moved to this house I wanted something more purposely built rather than something I had strung together, so I nailed my flags to Lightwave RF good looking product nice sockets and light switch's and rad valves. Being an early user much of the stuff has not moved with the times, my rad valves wont work with the newest phone app, though my main stat does. None of the stuff is two way so you cant tell remotely if something is on or off, there are on and off buttons for each device so at least you know if its already on you havent switched it off or vica versa, but it would be great to know the status of devices. With the latest voice integrated technology like Cortana, Google Voice, Amazon Echo, and that iphone thing, I thought it would be nice to integrate my lightwave with an Echo or something so I dont have to pick up my phone to switch the lights on or heating up when I am home , guess what none of them integrate with lightwave, though I have found that smart things can be integrated. Is anyone using any of the others like smart things, or wemo, ect. I know that Risco are integrating their app to work with Zwave. This is a nerdy forum so there must be hundreds of us fooking around with this stuff
  20. It would be hard work with a bad knee I hope you are fully recovered. Start off by subbying this is what most do, it will also give you a feel of whether you are still able to do the work. Working for yourself is not for everyone, if you have no work you get no pay, if you are off sick you get no pay, if you want to go on holiday yo wont get paid while your off unless you have been sensible enough to include this in your labour charges.
  21. No, your website says that you are insurance approved, which you are clearly not
  22. Which means that you do not have insurance approval, and therefore your web-site is misleading people.
  23. Really? You dont appear to have any accreditation, which would say to me that you dont have any approval
  24. How did you get "insurance approval"?
