  1. Hi and welcome, CCTV has come a long way in the last few years you can get systems with trip wires and intrusion boxes, when set up correctly the camera will only inform you if a human, or a vehicle, or both humans or vehicles enter the intrusion box or cross the tripwire. To be clear it can be set up as either singular or both.

Some systems can go much further than this you can have a system set up to alert you if anyone with a red jumper enters the site if you needed to.

  2. If your recorder has it you can also arm/disarm remote viewing from an input like say your intruder alarm, this would be overridden if a 24hr device activated like PA. This way the ARC only have access when the system is armed you can automate the arming using an output on the intruder so when set or part set the CCTV is armed when the intruder system is disarmed so is the CCTV

It may get it working for now. Really it's the charging rate to check not just voltage.

QFA if your battery has been knackered for a long time the charging circuit will not be able to charge a battery anymore. Under load that 13v will be more like 9v

  5. So long as the charging circuit is not knackered you could replace the battery and wait 24hours until its fully recharged, you should be able to turn the power off for around 8 hours without the sounder sounding, its either that or diss the sounder, but be warned the strobe has high voltage.

It’s a high value shop. So you decided that you needed to skimp on the security and fit it yourself We have done the install and now are getting Chubb to take over and do monitoring and maintaince. If you havent done it properly they will want to rip it out and start again, not only that all of the detection and panel is not going to be covered by their warranty and they wont let you touch it if they do take it over. Not sure that they would want a premier anyway. Should be a grade 4 once finished with signalling ect This tells me you know very little about security systems and you think the higher the number the better the security. My dad is bigger than your dad.

we want to know that the glass is broken before then enter as it’s bullet proof glass  If someones broken the glass there already in

    What are you selling?

    LOL!

  8. Sounds like you may have been too late with the battery replacement, down power power up mains first then battery, but be warned that may get the panel back up and working (if you are lucky) it doesnt mean that the panel is okay. If the battery has been dead for a while then its likely to have done irreparable damage to the charging circuit

  9. The only solid state smoke ive come across is when you accidently put the wrong voltage in something. This generally lets the smoke out of it. Ive found that its the smoke that makes electronic stuff work, because once you have let all the smoke out of a component it never works again.

I have noticed that the Honeywell Galaxy systems I used to install in many years ago are still deployed in the field so on the surface at least not much seems to have changed in the commercial space.

    Let the fun begin ?

Good luck with trying to get a panel from somewhere though, Ive been waiting months for a Dimension G3 panel and the last update was for an ETA Oct 9. If we were installing Galaxy full time we would go bust.

Had a job Tuesday were some tool had pointed a Honeywell PIR at a patio door in an open plan extension, it had false alarmed every day all the week prior.

The system is 5 months old fitted by some clueless spark (scribbled colours/terminals on manuals...), seems to be a mess.

It's only just started these FA's but you can see from the time in the log it's happening during the day when it's competing with the sun on the back patio.

Re-siting has solved it, maybe a quad could but I don't see that as the correct solution... it's just a workaround, the bad positioning was the issue and would still be there IMO.

To be fair I have seen false alarms from the sun on glass coffee tables, mirrors on walls, pictures on walls, and this has been regardless of where the detector is facing. Id agree that Fa's the same time everyday is most likely sun this time of year, but I would be surprised if it was direct through the door.

Its unusual for the sun to go directly into a detector through a window the sun is usually higher than the window and beaming down not up. Many of the detectors in my offices are facing the window and they are standard honeywell pir not even quad, (they were here when we moved in we just replaced the panel)  and we have never a problem with them. You could say thats because we are open everyday, but not weekends bank holidays, we were even closed for a whole week during the pandemic and we never had a FA.

Im not saying it cant happen and I respect your opinion SWB, I think its rare and although you saying a quad is a workaround, I say its technology designed not to FA when the sun reflects into it.

Having a detector opposite a window also provides a visual deterrent to anyone looking in
