  1. I was toying with Hubitat for a while, but now ive gone down the home assistant route. Its hard work learning Yaml and understanding a new terminology. But there is a huge following, loads of online support. I already had my alarm system switching stuff on and off when I armed and part set, it also switches lights on when the alarm activates, and courtesy lights when we come and go. Ive already set up esp bluetooth presence detection, my HA knows what room Im in at any one time assuming I have either my phone or my watch on and automations either run based on how long I am in that room or the time of day/light levels, and my daily routines. My next house (Moving soon) will have outputs that run inline with the motion detectors and door/window contacts, regardless of if my panel is armed the HA will know when someone has opened a door or walked into a room. If a rear door opens without seeing a motion in that room first it will trigger Alexa to announce a warning. My current alarm panel has the capability to provide hundreds of outputs, my next will be the same panel. In your shoes OP i would take the advise and get a panel that has enough outputs, you will have a never ending need of outputs, and one or two programmable inputs
  2. There is some sort of ruling, re code of the day or something or other, to do with the new cyber essentials bollooox. Ian keeps waffling on about you have to now make engineer codes dedicated to a site
  3. Not very good reviews for veripoor https://www.reviews.io/company-reviews/store/verisure-uk?fbclid=IwAR1j8dlbAWjxpuoDk3VNLTGprhEsk-Sbal0IKQikRcqLD2cQwSdy81oXORg
  4. Battery should be changed every 4 years, leaving it that long probably did more damage to the control panel than you would realise. A dead battery would have been pulling the charging circuit down and in turn that would have pulling everything else down including its NVM. Its probably a waste of money buying a new battery now the panel wont be able to charge it properly. The good news is the alarm has stopped you from being burgled for no cost over 20 years, with the money you have saved you can afford to replace it
  5. Sounds like the detectors are chiming check your user manual on how to switch on/off chime.
  6. I would stick with Milestone by choice but Hik will work with Onvif
  7. Have you tried wiring it directly into the panel on a short bit of wire? Also check the fuses, fuses are there to save the panel when amatures decide to play around. 1. I wouldn't install something purchased by a customer, it opens up all sorts of warranty issues. 2.This would be my recommendation 3. All of this stuff is one way wireless, as swb says not an alarm system. The Ring alarm will need to be more reliable than the doorbell to be any good. It really comes down to what type of burglar you are likely to attract.
  8. Ive tested Ring, Hikvision, cheapo Chinese, dahua doorbell and Dahua telephone entry, they all ring your phone via an app but none unlock the phone. Yeah the call goes though but it doesnt unlock the phone, even when Im on a call I have to use my fingerprint if i need to unlock it. If an app unlocked phones it would be a big security risk. It can be made to unlock the phone using Tasker but I dont like the idea of my phone being insecure in any way with bank apps and other financial apps like wechat and Revolute on it, its changed from being a phone to being a personal computer, that I holds more than just my phone contacts.
  9. If the phone is locked you have to unlock it the ap notifies but it doesnt unlock the phone
  10. If you have changed the batteries already and closed the lid on the detector correctly. Come out of the room and leave it for 5 mins then go back in let the detector see you if that doesnt work call the installer.(Which is what you should have done in the first place)
  11. SL8 is obsolete you may find a used keypad on ebay. But system that old I would recommend you think about updating
  12. Normally okay on WiFi its just when your out and about, I find by the time Ive unlocked the phone and answered the door the person calling has gone
  13. Comlit VIP Dahua Hikvision All have a system that works with an app with Video entry Be warned though no app based ves works anything like the adverts
  14. I know you think its all smoke and mirrors this vetting mularkey but you would be the first to complain if I let a burglar in to the trade section and he stole all the chocolate hobnobs again like last time
  15. Yes Im just waiting for the stool sample to come back from the lab
  16. Im guessing you have two? the second is probably a dummy box with deterrent leds
