  1. its all a much of a muchness, its not a fashion show, gets some graft done and stop prancing around
  2. most here are the illuminated signage kind saves on the street lamps
  3. im surprised,i know a lad who worked for a house bashing co doing installs for major builders he was racking the money in doing 3 and 4 first and second fixes a day tho people would rather upgrade the kitchen than have an alarm i agree
  4. all these new build housing estates have a dedicated mcb from the db from what ive seen you pay extra for 1st fix and extra again it you want a system installed by the builder
  5. i doubt anyone does that, most alarm engineers dont have the gear nevermind knowing what type of supply or earthing arrangement is coming into a building, best to get a spark into do it saves the hassle
  6. it comes across as that tbh,it wont benefit the industry as in the lads on the ground its a money maker for a chosen few,i will be proved right
  7. whats you and your brothers future jimmy?all we hear is its gonna happen but for whos benefit whats the prelim talks about who will gain? social climbing can bite you on the ass brother
  8. at least it would be in the brothers interest, not the faceless self appointed judges looking to ride on the back of the workers for their own self gain you would be working for a bowl of rice without them, dont think sticking your tonuge up the right hoop will save you, many hoop lickers end up broken men
  9. lol..it will be as much use thats for sure
  10. the badge on the arm is a reference to whatever its a p take at those that wear them, google it,the last part is the point do you really think the likes of you and me will benefit from the new order? think again.. theres very good and qualified people in this industry and very successful business owners without a security qual to their name, what will it really improve
  11. its about raising standards allegedly so what would a badge on the arm do and how could the sia raise technical standards unless under the influence of others, jib could as its been going years the ecs system is in place granted its a revenue spinner which people will want, forget the words security its a electrotechnical industry first and foremost and if people want it to be so it has to go that route imo
  12. personally the jib,the ecs card scheme is already up and running, plus you cant leave the nsi or ssaib out of any agreement they would have to police the new technical standards an engineer would be working too,tho id guess it will be a new venture old boys club money making scam with backs slapped on a job well done while companies pay even more into it for less out
  13. i did notice tonight the rather rotund guard in the co-op had a flo yellow one strapped to his bingo wing, all a thief would have to do is walk fast and he'd be fcd
  14. i cant see what the sia a non technical organisation would bring to the table with regards improving technical standards to this industry unless you want a i do intruder badge strapped to your upper arm and pay for the privilege
  15. call becomes overtime when there's no actual overtime,no standby allowance, travel time after 1hour is that distance or traffic, willing to travel, all in its average to poor if you have to work away imo
  16. thats just stock, you need bovril with a few drops of hot tabasco sauce for a good beefy drink in the cold, try it you wont look back
  17. lol like handling a live bomb when changing a detector,if that thing snaps its game over....happy days
  18. and connected to a map 6 for the more modern systems lol
  19. im not any different bar the fact im a bit sadder that most and find the little things make a difference, i would draw the line at a bippa
