  1. depending on the type of farm it is beams might not be suitable,for contacts I'd use roller shutter contacts glanded either into a conduit box or small ip rated jb,but I'd also look at installing all cables in heavy duty plastic conduit due to mice rats etc which will eat any exposed cable more so in a farm environment where they are plenty
  2. just buy a second hand lappy if its getting lugged around site,ive got a company toshiba thats around 7 yr old and scratched to bits and a bit **** but its only got work software on and its fine does what it needs to do
  3. i saw something the other day when i was working in a bank was an ipad type tablet on a bracket it appeared just to be for viewing the counter for customers couldnt seen any recording equipment

  7. the way i read it is the adt engineer didnt try to get him to upgrade and gave the cost reason as to much to be viable and probably told the sub to get a socket fitted next to the panel,but then you have 2 members encouraging the sub to ditch adt for no reason than they are not a local,now thats what i call impartial advice

  11. it wasn't meant to be but that's how it turned out,4 panel networked gents vigi around 1k devices none with any labels and no paperwork it was a case of testing every device and putting labels in thru the front door ,touch wood it's been fine and gets me plenty of overtime on ri's as customer only lets testing on a weekend
  12. to be honest I havnt seen the coloured dots thing for a while we do for example (as people have different ways )on a 4 zone system would be wrote down as full test zones 1 and 3 random zones 2 and 4 next vist full test zones 2 and 4 random zones 1 and 3 and sounders and relays marked as tested or not tested if customer declines
  13. see that all the time,it's the knowledge is power thing probably keeps all the paperwork in his van too,seen that a few times also
  14. do 100% on takeovers tho depends on size of job ,we have a multiday inspection code so it can take say 12 hrs over 3 days to do the takeover,tho done one about 2 yrs ago that took 130 man hours over 5 weeks
  15. the isolators are in the device not the base...
