  1. Yes still all going good , apart from one who seems to think a mains failure is my fault lol

I even got my first low battery level enquiry haha Adi might like that

But flexibility of the wireless sensors is the big plus to , being 2way aswell

I think having used the other brands, you n3d to use hkc regular to appreciate how good it is

(of course the dimension wired is still hardcore )

  2. Sensor has a range, look at paper work, curtain pole may not really affect its pick up , you could always experiment , stick pir up and see its pick up , after all your looking for movement coming from a certain direction in your house , unless they cut through a wall avoiding your sensor to get all your stash in those safe deposit boxes

Seems it's over complicated now just stick the sensor up man

  3. Customer parts sets using the keypad on the landing then completes setting using the p.t.s adjacent the keypad.

Customer forgets system is set, walks down stairs and triggers the part entry cct then runs back upstairs to unset using fob using the that hangs off the keypad.

    This acceptable in BS8243?

Fob hanging off is customer issue so would have nothing to do with it, unless your suggesting the installer fits it there for the customer, what customer does isn't controllable always

  4. Is it the LCD version keypads ? I beleieve the LCD will work on some of those panels but display info and have certain funstions only and if you have a panel that needs the led keypad you must have one of those to see what your doing , at least it's what I saw on one system

  5. Newer risco lightsys is apparently the experts choice , if you plan to stick with risco

Not my choice but seems if your doing it yourself stick similar model

I am sure experts will turn up soon, they work a bit more than me hence maybe why no reply yet lol

  6. Hiya,

I'm new to this forum so treat me gently. Believe it or not I'm actually an apprentice for a very big fire & security company in UK based all over. I'll be qualified in July and hopefully start a fire and security company mid to end of his year.

I've worked in the industry for nearly 5 years doing mainly fire but have installed dozens of intruder, cctv and access control. I'm after some advice on how to start up? What do I need etc such as tools, van.

I don't want to be messed around with or lead off the subject, I'd like some proper advice if possible. I am very eager and willing to commit myself to long days and wanting a successful business.

Open to suggestions on how I should start?

As a house basher , just wondered if you worked for 5yrs, does it take that long to complete an apprenticeship?

How will you do this part time? Will you tell bigger customers evenings and weekends only?

Is your current employer got you on a tracker so will you sneak off to do quotes etc?

Big question , do you use the company photocopier without permission for personal use?

Don't worry I just a house basher so trying to work out what angle your coming from

Save enough money in case you don't make any for a couple of years , or persuade someone to give you a big loan , or do another business on the side

H can give you advice on house refurbs as there's good money in it, and there's a few plumbers here to

  7. Update following the ADT visit.

Their recommendation was to upgrade to a wireless system at a price of £249. The problem with this is that with this system I would no longer have the police response I currently have. In order to upgrade to a police response wireless system I would have to shell out a whacking £749 to replicate what I currently have. No way I can justify that.

The system (a domonial) currently works and should it fail it will be ADT's responsibility to repair/replace for free. So the other option is to move the control panel next to the new master socket.

    Prices for this are:

    £100 call out fee

    £52 for 1 hrs labour.

    A saving of £597.

Given that I am more than happy to give my 9 years so far business to another company, what are the chances of them waiving this fee to keep my custom?

What you mean upgrade to wireless system? It's already wireless
