  1. it look like its "mint" condition
  2. a new endstation & keypad will cost less than a cheap android phone from argos ?
  3. most things I dislike about Texecom are present in the new pruduct
  4. gently twat the keypad with the handle of screwdriver... this will simulate the day 2 day movement of the house, eg - kids slamming doors, a fat wife waddling up the hallway, a dpd van bouncing over the kerb outside delving ebay tat... if it doesn't go into tamper the spring doesn't need touching I'd bin the controls & put something better in
  5. current provider - https://www.stealthsys.co.uk/clients/index.php they converted my alarm master data alarm master converted my Rod Harris / Kiss data
  6. Ahh the Cult of Orisec, I fail to see the attraction...
  7. He's gone a bit more up market than a Jag...
  8. Your HA "alarm" won't work without internet or power so its not really an alarm. A big bag of relay will bodges your 800l onto your HA However a more commercial alarm panel & a bag of relay is probably a better starting point
  9. we don't do wood ? but hello all the same
  10. I did a pair of 46 on app about 2 yrs ago, I think I used the black & red lead like the instructions state, I'm surprised they've never done a plaggy endstation with wifi & a radio zem.
  11. yes you could, however lets say £100 per yr ? let say the visit costs £50, 1 man 1 hour of travelling & on site time , 30mins of admin time, including a vehicle NI pension & all that stuff that's less than £1 a week to provide a 365 day 24hr service, with out maintenance in place you'll be unlikely to find anyone who'll want to repair an alarm at short notice or out of hours you may find that having the alarm maintained is a requirement of dad's contents insurance, I'd advise checking the policy before making changes however if you don't want it don't have it, well your dad will have to inform the provider in writing ...
  12. Its a cheapo alarm, could be 21 yrs+ old ? IIRC there's is a just a single fuse on the PCB, there is no indication when the fuse has failed because its a cheapo alarm... If they left it faulty after their visit, you have no way of proving it. The alarm in the out building, could be on a different phase or just not have duff pcb like the house alarm ? Unhappy with the service provider for you parent's alarm, get them to cancel it. you can mend it for free ?
  13. its a cheapo alarm, if it was proper one it would know the state of the battery & also the battery fuse you can't prove if if blew recently or blew months ago... the alarm retains all it programming after total power loss, you pcb is fcuked
  14. OP never mentioned auto switching,
  15. Upto 5mp Loop though box with hdmi output would do the job, but a 4 way DVR without a HDD would cost the same !
  16. If logan was still in Communication all this panel talk would bring him to a DA Climax ?
  17. You need a bit of Logic 4 other wise a salesman with a bit of Karmiza, might want to charge you the earth or the whole Galaxy, getting a bill which would need an Abacus to add up ? I not sure how you'd get the Optima from your budget, but if you lucky you might be under budget & have a few left over for a Mosaic ?
  18. Your asking for bespoke mix of products, eg - car with a bike engine, it might do 0-100 in 4 seconds, but it won't have tow bar as well 1.) if you are building the house wire everything & any door / window you choose to alarm can has a concealed contact, the added benefit unless it bus device just about any wired items will work with just about any wired control panel 2.) boundary alarm ? like Yale or Harry Moss or alarm the product has no approval, when sold by high street retailers the store has proper alarm despite having a shelf full of a alarms for sale. IFTTT ? still don't care...
  19. I'd never heard of it until this thread started, google says "nest" lol
  20. the only way your going to get a reliable graded system is have one installed & maintained by a properly accredited alarm co. I assume your IT ? eg - would you want a software man to do the wires & a wire man to do the software...
  21. AAn alarm where you have the engineer code & also run the cable sounds like an unusual set up. If you have a texecom wireless bell it would need swapping for a wired bell, run the cable from control panel to near the final location ? Mark the "engineer" can borrow your drill & ladders to finish up when he comes back ?
  22. iirc, with no power the button is in alarm, so when powered up it needs reseting
  23. its in alarm, have you pressed both button down until it turns green ?
  24. what colour led do the pa's show ?
  25. I've probably still got a paper manual Its 30+ years old, pre internet pre pdf, The last one I saw I replaced with a 6/14r Honestly why bother?
