any gamers amongst us? one of the most iconic eary FPS games on the PC was the Doom Series, there were others but Duke Nukem 3D added some adult humour, if a bid crude. it was the first game i ever played multiplayer, linking 2 pc's over a laplink cable. we could not put it down. a new game is about to be launched bringing our potty mouthed hero back in from the cold to save the world - er! well really to make us all laugh. the earlier game had working tolets, if you got duke to the urinal and pressed the action button he took a p and says 'beeter', press again and he says "ah much better". you go up to the dancers and he pass some very rude comments, ground breaking fe…

As tittle, free app used between iPhones but unlike skype don't need to actually be logged in. Works over mob net or WiFi, ideal I'd thought for engineer comms on the move out on site as intercoms. Once registered, anyone in your phone book with iphone registers after, you get a text. To use the service, you open the Viber app which shows your contacts in a different screen colour, contact is very fast, almost immediate. Makes me think might be a way to be more secure against the recent £15 phone hackers eaves dropping, not sure if it is though. Cool bit if kit IMHO Arfur

Hi all, Had 3 grandkids stay over New Year, knowing they were Comming I spotted a rock band game with drum kit, guitar and mic for £40 on flea bay and bought it. also got the beatles rock band and lips cd's (all for Xbox 360). Has to be said we had a real ball with it, not a cat left within 5 miles of our place, I can hardly talk due to all the singing I attempted to do, my arms ache from drumming and my fingers are numb from playing the 'guitar'. Superb fun, if you have kids or grandkids just go buy a set, best vfm I have ever spent on the festivities including spend on food and drink etc. Adding to that, I had the bright idea to get dance 2 for the WII, my 7 year o…

ok open season declared on Arfur - will he ever learn? i own 2 x Sinclair C5 3 wheelers, madder than a box of frogs but a riot to ride around in. i don't risk taking it on main roads, but tend to buz along local side roads @ 15 mph if i'm lucky to be on a down hill slope (very quiet and rural where i live). club meets up with other owners, range is oly 15 - 20 mile on a car battery but you can fit them into a Toyata Yaris or onto a rood rack for transporting and we ride though places like Cambridge and along seafronts simply because they have cycle path's and are pretty flat. bet your thinking i've finally lost it, trust me once you get over feeling like a total tit,…

If you did not see this last night then watch it. There is an inventor who designed a radical electric 'pancake' motor in his teens, eccentric as they come but a total genius, Cedric Woolf I think the name is, and no it's NOT me smart ass . You have just got to see him using his hand made post drill, holding the work with his foot and powering the jig by cranking a handle Laugh by sll means, but he got P2 & P4 at the recent IOM TT races against all the big boys, states his motor is 93% efficient, phenomenal achievement if true. Going back on an earlier subject of induced charging, this has to be the next best thing for a tidy area. http://www.oneforall.com/product/index/id/131/title/multi-charger/cat_id/1/type/charging-solutions/sub_id/30/sub_title/ Seems to accept all the major brands.

  12. hi Guys i've used satnav from early days of my business working up from a basic PDA, no post code input and which took about 10 minutes to work out a 5 mile route, could not even auto re-route lol! but, even with that restricted ability i've found it was always a for general area's where you already know are like say Bristol but not all the roads or traffic systems within them. being East London born, for me SW London is a nightmare to work out the one way systems etc. i've often finish work very late and exhausted, i don't want to then fiddle with maps in the gloom of my cab, not having much of a clue on how to get home let alone the best way. so what is better…

I bought a Ryobi kit some time ago Dril, Cirular saw & Jig saw for £100 (stax). I was pleasantly surprised and later added a drill box £24 (Costco) which is the best brill bits kit i ever owned. Recently i jumped in on the lithiums Pro range and purchased the SDS and Impact driver with free vacum £190 (stax). The hoover is good and the impact driver is OK but the SDS is poor. That is until i fitted a external sounder where its light one handed use came into its own. thankfully i found a use for an underpowered tool.

  14. Started by arfur mo,

like most engineers, i just love tools nearly to the point of an addiction, i'll trawl tool shops/stools examine every tool and new shaped neon screwdriver. last year i was in B&Q and they were pushing the Bosch UNEO drill on one of those screen loop promo's, so curious as a moth is to lighted candles, i watch the whole thing a bit mesmerised, well until the price came up at a stonking £129.00 - ouch! so i chewed it over for a few days, well if i don't like it i can take it back. i have a few electric drivers for the monotonous jobs like fixing CAT%e socket plates, o considered its small size and important extra abilities. has a Li Ion battery (built -n) so will ho…
