Hi everyone. -I'm currently researching as i will becoming a sole trader shortly, installing and servicing intruder systems/cctv/access. Is it compulsory to have nsi or ssaib accreditation to provide these basic services? -If i offer monitored keyholder response systems via a independent ARC, what type or level of nsi or ssaib will i need (ie nsi silver/gold) and is it compulsory? -Would i need a higher level of accreditation to offer police response? Hope my questions make sense.

Does NSI NACOSS have any clout, ie if a nacoss gold registered company was running what in my mind seemed to be a bit of a money making scam (by giving out misleading/inaccurate information, probably in order to hope to get people to pay money to them) then would they be able to put a stop to it? Without going into naming names etc, I spotted a site that in my opinion gives very misleading information, linked from a nacoss gold site, and the site in question is owned by the owner of the nacoss gold firm.

Hi all, I am putting together a forms and files folder for my company and have realised I have no record of operational checks for either CCTV or Access control. I'm sure i used to but i can't find either any where. Does anyone have either, for NACP or EN 501? I just need something to start me off, I hate putting these things together from scratch and my brain hurts.

Hi all I started using the veritas R8 for budget installations and I use the Galaxy and the excell for everything else. I am working towards S.S.A.I.B recognition and this may seem silly but is the R8 ok for smaller installations. (ssaib ok I mean)? Housty

I have been running a CCTV installation company for ~18 months and am considering going for Nacoss systems silver. We do not install alarms/fire alarms/access control nor do we supply key holding / guarding services. We simply install CCTV. Obviously having the logo on the van / letterheads will look good and give us credibility but is it worth the expense. I would be interested in getting into sevicing cctv systems for larger clients. would nacoss help with this. Any comments / experiences appreciated.

After looking at various companies in relation to having an alarm fitted, i decided to contact a few. One company in particular was registered with ssaib, whereas the others were in the Nacoss scheme. When i asked the SSAIB company the difference , he said that there was no difference. However my insuarance company will only offer a discount on a nacoss installed alarm. So, are the two "schemes" the same , and if not, whats the difference?

Hello guys & galls. Here in Portugal, an intrusion panel cannot be used for Fire + Intrusion detection. I don't know if this is the same in the UK. We are required to have fire and intrusion panels separately. - Does anyone know if this might be a local standard or does EN standards require this (and thus would be the same in the UK)? - If one had a fire detector in this situation and the zone was classed "Fire" on the intrusion panel, in case of a triggering, wouldn't the alarm receiving centre know that it's a fire sensor (due to protocols communications between panel and receiving centre), thus calling up the fire brigade first (FIRE!) and notifying local author…

Hi everyone I am new to this forum so bear with me, I run the office of our security firm which has only me and my husband. He wants to get registered with the NSI or SSAIB which on his side being the installer he can do easily, its me!! Is there anyone out there that can give me advice on what admin things they look for I am still waiting for the information packs and of course raising funds to buy the standards which I suppose will help me. Its really practically what files I need, security, any ideas that will help me or let me know what I am in for. I am trying to juggle it all round my own job and child so all help gratefully received. Thanks Regards Tory

Under what prerequisite is a NACOSS certificate issued? Should all rooms have detectors? Should all exterior doors have contact switches fitted? Should the main panel be steel? Should the property have an external sounder (bell box)?

Hi, We have been installing Video Door entry systems, cctv systems and wireless burglar alarms in homes for some time. I need advise on who to register with. I have been an electronic engineer for many years and part of the technical courses might be a waste of time. Any ideas?
