Hi, I am returning to the alarm industry after 7 years in I.T. I will be asking you guys for advice and a few questions as I refamiliarise myself and get to grips with new stands post 4737 etc.. and your help would be most appreciated as I intend to start out as sole trader. Sam

Hi, I've just registered as I've been looking for an intruder alarm (following break-in and theft of car-keys and car..!). As an IT guy I'm always telling people not to wait until they have had a PC crash before they do a backup - seems I should have taken the same approach and fitted an alarm before I got broken into... Anyway, I'll be asking a few questions about what to fit and if it's a DIY or Professional install I should be looking at. Simon

  6. Started by Phaeton,

Been lurking round a while now, thought I would put a few words down. Been in the cable installation business for over 30 years in various forms from BT through Ethernet computer networks, Cat5 & 6e to the last 12 months on intruder, access & CCTV. Been off & done other things along the way but always seem to come back to the tools. Got my lad working with me & we make a good team, don't suppose all father can say that. Always been able to have kept busy, but things seem tight at the moment, we thought we were alright for the next few months, but the firm we were sub contracting for is having a lean patch so taken the work in-house so we are out on our ear…

Hi guys, I've been a sparky for 20 years+ (SCARY) with some work on security and CCTV systems. One of my main clients just asked me to take over some defunct systems on a large site and I've found the info in these forums most useful. So I thought I'd sign up and look forward to chatting with you guys. , Ian

Hi All, I see there have been discussions in the past regarding the 'insurance game', how it works, what cover is required & whether efficacy cover is neccessary. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. I own an independant brokerage & specialise in the fire & security industries.
