It does that to allow full flexibility. You can use anything then off an output. All tones or leds or buzzers or hilos or etc etc same throughout. Other panels tried it with speaker out but missed the fact it isn't a limitation

Big end station is one thing I love, more room for comms etc

Yeah, and the sign of a proper commercial panel imo (where space and aesthetics come second to function) 

An end station which is big enough to produce an echo is ideal...

even at you pocket money labour rate, you not going to be able to put a G2 on every job unless the product comes from bin dipping
