Nathan Howson Posted September 3, 2019 Share Posted September 3, 2019 Hello hive mind, I have recently bought a property which has an ADE Optima Compact panel installed. I’m unsure what generation but from other forums it appears to be a Gen 4 (I’ll post a picture). The panel is completely unresponsive to anything, no sound or change in LEDs illuminated; the only thing it shows is the power LED illuminated in red. Can anyone suggest anything to help? PeterJames Posted September 3, 2019 Share Posted September 3, 2019 If you have no code for it, and you dont know what your doing then my advice would be to leave it alone and get someone that does. I would suggest you get someone out to see if can be serviced, new battery and re programmed for your needs. Alarms need regular maintenance to be reliable. For clarity, we do know the code and it was used by the previous owner, who lived here up until we moved in. She apparently unhooked the battery, no idea why! We reconnected the battery. Does this give anyone any idea as to how to help? Thanks again! Specialist Posted September 5, 2019 Share Posted September 5, 2019 The battery is quite probably faulty and as Peter James pointed out, the charging circuit may also be faulty now. You could try replacing the battery and checking the charging circuit output with a multimeter, but you may just be throwing away the cost of the battery. 1 Customers Love us, Intruders Hate us. Specialist Posted September 6, 2019 Share Posted September 6, 2019 (edited) Hi Nathan: Replacing your panel like for like with another Optima compact & new battery would be well within the capabilities of a competent DIY'ER and cost £60 - £70. If going this route please ensure that you turn off the Mains electricity before touching it and if your in any doubt about your ability to do the work safely, please call an alarm engineer.
