I've an old piece of hardware which needs a firmware update

 

however its servers have changed, but I can't change the setting in the device

 

However I suspect I might be able to change settings in the router...

 

so when it "dials" 11.11.11.11 it redirected to 22.22.22.22

 

google isn't helping, but I not quite sure of the proper term for what I'm trying to do

 

Router is draytek 2820.

you can probably redirect on the router id its a domain. Dunno how to do it if its an ip

Sounds like potentially more hassle than it's worth, but I have no idea what you are trying to do so maybe an "XY problem"?

Connect it to the net via a proxy that you have setup to point at the right place?

Hosts file or DNS server solutions could be possible if you are doing a DNS lookup, sounds like it isn't as you have IP's?

 

Could you get hold of the firmware ?

 

If you could then use filezilla
