Setting up a Twin Piezo Sound Bomb

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Thanks to many of you on here, I'm slowly getting to understand the system and have been playing around with it's settings to match it to our needs.

One of the things I don't like about the texecom premier elite 24 is how quiet it's panel's internal speaker is.  So I've bought a Twin Piezo Sound Bomb from Alert Electrical:-

I've connected the red wire to the panel's 12v bell and the black wire to the panel speaker's -ve

However it still sounds really quiet and I'm wondering if I've wired it correctly.  Could anyone please confirm if this is correct and if so, how can I test that it's working correctly?

Thanks again

I must say you have got half pro gear and have no idea how to use it. time to get someone in that does?

  • I'd normally just use separate OP's

  • I'd put the red on + & use op1 on black programmed as something suitable?   But then again it's late & I've been drinking....

Speaker input is millivolts, soundbomb's is 12 volts-see the problem?.

Where on the system does one get a 12v output under alarm conditions?.

I'm assuming you are after louder alarms sounds during an activation of the system and not louder entry/exit tones.

My apologies, but I'm not exactly sure what and where you want me to connect the wires to.   Also I'm not sure where the system gets 12v output under alarm conditions.

The current sound bomb wiring connections are as the image shows below, i.e. RED going to BELL +12V and BLACK going to SPK-.

Please note that this image is just an example off the internet and is not my actual alarm, but it's the same layout.

So have I done it wrong?

spk- is for a speaker not a sounder

it needs to go to whatever is bell -

Nope, 0v is the sounder hold off -ve, you need red from bomb to +12v and black from bomb to bell (which puts a -ve to both bomb and bell when in alarm condition.

The bell already has a +ve connected internally at the sounder.

Will this panel be able to power the sound bomb like this?
