sixwheeledbeast
I haven't met with the installer myself... we probably said that we didn't want to spend so much and have annual fees? The phone line is actually quite difficult to cut because it's underground and even the electrician wasn't able to find the location of the master socket... we had to wait for the BT engineer to find it out! That is often a mistake customers make, underground lines are just as easy to cut; sometimes easier. Plus if the line is engaged it's useless, then there is hoping that the TAP server isn't down or engaged at the time of the message. TAP may work fine but it's not to be relied upon. If you want to be notified 24/7 choose something other than private reporting. al-yeti
I think minimum opt for a dialler or monitoring if you can afford it Or hkc panel with on-board options there's a few northerners who install it Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/38048-another-which-alarm-system-topic/page/4/#findComment-410299 Share on other sites
Lwillis
As others have said go for Monitering If you can afford it. Hillbilly
If you just want a dialler then the Gardtec 600 has a dialler built into the system. As for monitoring the cheapest is a digi... Which the line is tested in xxx amount. Next step up and I would advise is the CSL DigiAir monitoring service. Contact the companies that quoted and ask about this service. datadiffusion
I wouldn't fit a digi if my life depended on it these days, tbh. CSL digiair is a good product though. If connected on SIA so much the better. Still not tried a UDL one. So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/38048-another-which-alarm-system-topic/page/4/#findComment-410313 Share on other sites

datadiffusion
With only a 24 hour check it suffers from all the same problems as a dialler or TAP gateway, lots of homes don't have landlines, calls can cost money which p***ses off customers, etc etc. So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/38048-another-which-alarm-system-topic/page/4/#findComment-410316 Share on other sites

abbz
There's 100's of systems out there on digi and were still connecting new resi jobs up on digi's. most break in's are opportunist and regardless of what signalling you have the result is normally the same. At end of day an alarm system is just damage limitation in your average domestic.
