Also unless already replaced youll soon have trouble with the nvm (one of the chips inside).

Why will the nvm fail on the panel out of curiosity? Is there an age problem with them?

They do fail but can be replaced easily and cheaply, same chip as the old digis take.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

The NVM stops taking programming changes eventually, something to do with write cycles

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

Its exactly that, mega old fashioned wire memory eeprom never really designed for multiple changes over a period of years.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

As the log is NVM backed up I assume it wrights to it every set and unset?

Yes, I guess so, failure is unavoidable I think. My one in the garage at my parents old place was set and unset twice a day and failed about 8 years after the panel was new.

Not quite, the reason I used that clumsy phrase was that it was ex the main house at about 4 years old, and usedmore heavily, ironically, on the garage.

The 9800 was a panel designed in the early/mid 80's, why would you want to use something so outdated?
