Best Dvr

Chaps,

What's the best DVR which requires no internet set-up for those who want to view their property via a mobile device without the installer having to do all the port forwarding, plug and play?

Thanks

There isn't going to be one.

The port forwarding/rules etc is a necessity due to the router doing its job.

If there was a unit that used a fixed domain as an intermediary that would not require setting up in the traditional

manner though, wouldn't it, a bit like webway or the Siemens SPC spcanywhere web service?

Granted there is no such thing, and if there was who would trust the remote gubbins to still be there in 2 or 3 years time?

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

I know of at least one NVR that can work the way the OP mentions, but i'd say it's outside his price band.

I would go for a supplier that will set up the routers for you.

Yep this is an option or employ an engineer with decent IT skills.

The Vectus range we are using have "Auto Port Forward".

It's obviously not going to work on all networks but for domestics with uPNP enabled it works fine.

I'd employ an engineer that was capable of doing the work he was tasked to do.

In fact the fact that suppliers need to offer a service to configure a router shows what **** fitters are out there fitting this stuff.

And Considering the op appears to be targeting the domestic market I suspect the homeowner already owns a router.

Indeed they do.

This is my home modem/router/firewall/DMZ.

I'd pay money to see the guys face who was tasked to  install a maplin DVR trying to setup port forwarding :)
