Only the Google devices use the clean untouched Android. That, i would say is the generic form, all others are 'doctored'.

The clean google version of Android is very good.

I think at £239 & £279 there very keenly priced too

I have an Arc S, best android phone I've had, plugged it into the pc a week ago and the Sony programme asked if I wanted to update..I did and it now wont connect to the work exchange server. Cant roll back either so looked round for another phone and have ended up buying another Arc S.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
