Galaxy Spi Key

Has anyone had any experience with these?

Sounds like good concept to me but I don't hear that people I work with have had good experiences.

Never had a problem but never been brave enough to hot plug one. Maybe thats the issue they have. Use it for copying / reblowing config and for software updates, never had a problem

no reported issues of hot use with them.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

I've used lots of these. The issues I have seen have been with panels not seeing them. My thoughts are that it's a connector contamination issue mainly with new keys. If you reseat repeatedly about 10x (with the power off), then the panel will see the key when powered up.

I've also had the flash upgrade fail a couple of times, but I have specialist hardware to reprogram the on-board flash, so have managed to recover.

What's the odds at I've just had a job come down to me today to software upgrade a panel tomorrow using a spi key.

I'll see how I get on, read up on it and seems simple enough but it does say hot plugging is a no no so I'll probably avoid that. Its a large department store in a shopping center. Last thing I need is a crash. Might be about time I sorted out my copy of galaxy gold and got it working.

Just don't be tempted to power off / reboot at any point during the upgrade. It can take a few minutes, with the comm's relay clicking Etc. Just wait and it should reboot to default settings itself.

We have hotplugged them many times with no issue.
