February 18, 201214 yr comment_281127 I assume on eol wiring the rkp aren't wired with resistors? I was looking at the new keypad today and saw the tamper, but thought what about if the wires are yanked out or shorted etc. Have the keypads built in function to deal with this? Veritas Excel. February 18, 201214 yr comment_281130 RKP tamper is done through the BUS / Communication wiring and has nothing to do with normal tamper circuit or EOL. February 19, 201214 yr comment_281133 Although worth noting some panels use resistors to "terminate" the data line. Galaxy's for example. It seems to make no difference if fitted or not. February 19, 201214 yr comment_281138 What does that resistor do? It seems to make no difference if fitted or not. Although it may seem that it doesn't make a difference, remember that the bus is quite resilient and can cope with a certain level of poor signal quality. In basic terms, the termination resistor is fitted to balance the data line and stop signals reflecting back on themselves. If you don't fit them, then there may be data corruption going on and it could lead to intermittent fault/tamper events. February 19, 201214 yr comment_281144 Went to a job once, Euro mini with 2 RKP's, both which would go offline completely and not come on again unless a power down reset was done. Owner said they had been doing it on and off since the system was installed (nearly a year). Installed resistors each end of the bus wiring, problem solved.
