Why not move the Swap's Shop in comunal trade area to public? Or was you thinking more formalised type auction. Fees?

We're talking about a "proper" auction site using dedicated software with all the features such as auto bidding etc just like ebaY. It would require regisitration allowing anyone to register (using different username if prefered).

It would be public which allows more for potential buyers and would utilise TSI's high(ish) google rating.

No fees are initially intended but obviously if the auction software licence or TSI hosting needs to be upgraded (could potentially get very busy) then those costs need to be covered by small insertion fees.

The items sold should not be restricted to fire, cctv, intruder related stuff, (arf can seel his rust ovaltine cans, lol) anything legal IMO.

tbh the system is up, but we have to make some modifications to it so it works right, and looks right but re the fees etc, initially (possible 12 months depending on traffic) it will be completly free. TSI will gain from the increased traffic etc so its not something we want to kill with charges (like ebay) more of a tsi perk. We have upped the hosting charges already to deal with the current traffic from what it was but if the auction site generates a lot of traffic, it may need its own server, this will need to be paid for by someone.

But at the mo its a free perk...or will be when its made public. But its still in theory development. It seems to be taken well so far so its highly likly we will do it. Im gonna have a look in our stores and see what i can list lol

Think you could be in for a world of pain personally.

What are you going to do about disputes procedures... warranties....duff equipment ... duff equipment sold by unscrupelous "engineers" to Joe Public who blame TSI for allowing it to be sold etc...?

And when you get a superseller are you gonna give him up to the tax man so GB can have his 20%....??

be axactly the same as ebay for that, its like wanting a dispute cos you bought something cos of an adverit in yellow pages or exchnage and mart etc. No differnet. All we can do is suspend accounts. Also there will be a feedback system like ebay.

cynic

Wasn't being cynical Norm, just realistic.

If open to all, FOC, how many e.g. second hand batteries/scrubbed up PIRS/horn sirens etc.

Now I see. Yep, I'm a cynic.

But still think could work.

Got a name suggestion - SecureBay

Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.

Good idea.

Told you "the security installer on-line auction site" wasn't catchy enough James.

Suggestions for names greatly received.

maybe leaving "bay" out will avoid legal action though
