  1. It should be in the initial contract that at the termination of that contract the company shall default the engineer code. I know of a few installers who insert that clause. At the end of the day, a customer has bought a product. It belongs to the customer and there should be no 'unfair contract clause'. On the other hand, if the contract stipulates that a customer, on cessation of the contract should pay a nominal sum for default, then so be it. Engineer codes are essentially the private property (in a sense) of the company and should not be divulged. However there is a very fine line (only determined by the intentions of the parties)as to defaulting...
  2. Only ever used a bracket once, very enclosed space at bottom of stairs, otherwise I wouldn't bother.
  3. How 'close by' are the works ? one would imagine that it would be just as well to fix the fault first as last !!!
  4. There are ready made mounting holes on the pir for corner or straight wall placement. It's not often that a bracket is needed except in certain circumstances. Can you mount it in the corner of a room or flat wall ? Remember to seal any other holes to prevent dust and insect ingress. Usually, the pcb needs to be removed for mounting in this way (don't lose the pcb screw)..but not always...depends on the pir.
  5. Thanks Simlec, I accept it but that sounds a bit obvious to me. Surely with all the tecnical innovation about, a pir shouldn't false alarm if it's positioned correctly.
  6. Nice One, Seriously though, I'm learning a lot from you people. Does FA mean false alarm or something like that ?
  7. They shall need to be very cheap after that list. Plastic Screws ? Are they having a laugh or what.
  8. Norman you have one heck of a sense of humour, I appreciate your comment. PSE, thanks for elaborating. Suffice to say the DT8016FS Duel Tech is now in the notebook filed under "Do Not Use". Thanks.
  9. ".....total bag of pooh DT8016FS Duel Tech..." I would be interested to learn what precisely is wrong with it. No disrespects intended but, "total bag of pooh" means absolutely nothing to me. Is it giving false alarms for example, possibly it's range isn't as advertised, maybe you can not set the pir and microwave seperately in order to obtain a perfect pattern, etc. etc. I don't have a decent reply to your post, nonetheless I rely totally on your expert opinion and 'bag of pooh' is not your usual definition.
  10. I doubt if Texecom can wave a magic wand on this one, although they have a good backup service, you've done just about everything. It would be appreciated though if you could let the site know the outcome since that extra bit of input can be helpful to others.
  11. From your posts you are obviously over and above the 'diy enthusiasts'. My suggestion, for what it's worth, would be to 'power down' and do a re-prog (that's not suggesting that there is anything wrong with your programming capabilities). Should you find that the problem persists on zone 1 after that, then you are entitled to a new panel in my humble opinion. Frustrating to say the least. Unfortunately, we've all been there at some time or another.
  12. The system has been working without problems up to, and until, the Knight contact. is that correct ?
  13. So zone 1 is conventional then, and the remaining zones are fsl, is that correct ? Sorry Al-yeti, typed over you, my mistake.
  14. That's more like it, proper job. Thing is, does the O.P's budget stretch (I should imagine it costs a bob or two !). A crazy idea for a pro site like this but wouldn't there be something in the maplin catalogue which might do for what he has in mind ? just a thought.
  15. Probably done this already but, Have you removed all wiring from zone 1 terminals and linked them with the correct eol's ?
  16. Just type a search for it then, don't know what happened to the link. Good site though !!
  17. Take a look at www.security-camera-warehouse.com.
  18. Is there a best domestic cctv ? as in the best.
  19. In thirty or more years my current readings have been in that region, not always, but more often than not. The reason for mentioning this is to ensure that the reading for the OP is not abnormally low.
  20. Might be worth checking the battery charging current, nominally 500mA or thereabouts. Also a current limiting resistor gone high value, look for burn marks around resistors in that area.
  21. Peter, thankyou for your valuable comments. I totally agree with everything you have said, and for that matter the observations of every contributor(too numerous to recall their names)should be applauded. If the implication is such that CCTV operators are not allowed to record audio according to the 'regulations' imposed upon that 'field' then you have reassured myself in some respects. However, it would be appreciated were you to accept that I have no intention of 'back-tracking'. My view is such that 'yobbos' congregating at the rear of the property (originating post)should, emphasis on should, be recorded complete with audio ... voice recognition is a favourable tool in the police armoury. Throughout these posts I have included actual and hypothetical situations where it is perceived that litigation is unlikely, and never has, arisen in the circumstances highlighted by myself. I am sure you are aware, however, that the industry manufactures cameras complete with audio facilities costing hundreds of pounds, and in so doing they recognise this 'need' in certain environments. As a member pointed out, this is not a forum for legal advice but perhaps it is worth adding that there are 'loopholes' within the legal environment which may be 'persuasive' although the audio may not be accepted as evidence inside the actual courtroom. I am not allowed to discuss the latter comment further.
