  1. Hi, that's 75% of total capacity, he could go a bit higher though since the calculation is intended to ensure no overload whatsoever, I know I have in some circumstances. Ideally aim for the longest standby possible, during my last trouble shooting excursion I found a duff 2.1 battery where the occupants were frequently abroad...changed for 7ah added psu with a further 7ah. I think it worked out at a few days standby..can't remember exactly.
  2. "... I have now lost my copy of Galaxy Gold. Does anyone have a copy ?.." I think you need to be a trade member for that.
  3. Thanks for that Nova, can someone tell me, since it's so long ago, what panel is it ? I assume it's a Galaxy but what model ?
  4. Nova Security ".... thats why the panel was sold on ebay, its faulty..." Hang on, am I chasing my tail here ? I didn't know the panel was from ebay, I thought only the rio's were from ebay. Always believed that the panel was an original !!!
  5. I go along with that Admin, but you would appreciate were I called to a site with these problems my first priority would be to establish when, and if, this control panel worked properly..I'm afraid I must stand by that way of working.
  6. And I stand by my reasoning: "......and I personally would not consider continuing any venture without categoric proof one way or the other..."
  7. Exactly Norman. To me Facebook is more dangerous than standing armies. It tells us when people are going on holidays, picking the kids up from school, are down the pub..the list goes on.
  8. I should have been more precise, perhaps I should have said " Would you try to force facebook to take your codes off their site". but on reflection perhaps I was just being fecetious (is that how you spell it) ?
  9. I've made a few other comments recently which may, or may not, be dismissed out of hand by the experts, but I would still want to be convinced that there either is or is not a fault at the panel. The point is this, I would not be prepared to pursue any avenue until I am totally convinced that the panel is at fault or otherwise. I assume your rio's are from ebay (correct me), I have no end of gear bought on ebay and second hand at that, some of it worked first time some of it didn't, so I understand why the experts are a bit 'bothered' as it were. But, the ebay purchases could be working first class whilst the panel is not, and vice versa...and I personally would not consider continuing any venture without categoric proof one way or the other.
  10. I don't know if there is a common policy Terry, but I do feel that the onus is on the maintenance company to at least advise the customer of the probabillity of a relay dying at three in the morning, customer can't say he wasn't warned of the possibilities then. I own up to the fact that my home pir's were installed in 1994 and could go at anytime, but I am not a customer who isn't aware of the probable consequences of not renewing. For my own part, home pir maintenance is basically ensuring there are no creepie crawleys, all holes sealed and lens cleaned, but we can't expect a customer to know, or even care, about these things.
  11. Nova Security "...Could be due to the fact that he has checked the fuse's and the panel doesn't stay on when the mains is removed..." Fair comment, missed that post, This is hypocritical but it might be worth checking the panel in it's last known good configuration without the rio's. "....Not a panel fault more the smart rio inside the 500..." That was my reasoning at Post 20.
  12. ",,,,If you were the owner of a national company say and your code was being dished around publicly on a Facebook group, what would your response be??.." What could your response be ?
  13. "....Omg i feel old now lol..." How do you think us OAP's feel ? Hello and Welcome from Rhyl where the sun always shines..duh !!
  14. If the led is flashing, staying on, or not on at all..go for a relay fault. Anyway, in the broad scheme of things if a system is being looked after annualy by a good company, I can't see that it is in their interests to change passives just for the sake of it. Ten years is about right for a change of pir and it can only be in the customer's interests. All in all, spot on Alyeti. Alyeti, are you seriously plotting Goncal's downfall ?
  15. How do you definitely and without doubt know that it is a panel fault... anybody ? DWdave have you checked the panel (see earlier post) ?
  16. Hi Alyeti, you're correct as usual, but I reckon that he should at least be aware that he is not overloading before he starts connecting everything together.
  17. Your control panel installation instructions will give you it's current rating when active and when quiescent. This applies equally to all other devices. Add the current consumption of all the devices in active state:- 2 X sounders @ 200mA = 400mA, 6 X pirs @ 15ma = 90mA and so on, get yourself a grand total which should not exceed 75% of the total capacity. Trade installers would actually measure these currents rather than rely on the specs leaflets, but that's another matter. You may find that you have no other option than to us SCB rather than SAB.
  18. Let's make sure it's not the ebay buy that is causing the problem. I realise it's a pain in the proverbials but, remove everything that you have added to the control panel since it last worked correctly, rio's etc. What are the high loads you are referring to, a relay has a stated current and voltage rating which it will not go beyond (well not that often anyway). I am assuming that the outputs of the rio's are relays rather than transistorised ...wouldn't know, never seen them !! When you are satisfied that the control panel is working correctly, add the rio's but not the 'high loads' which you refer to. If both the panel and rio's are ok, attach one 'load' at a time. You can find the fault by a gradual process of elimination... I've had a few good units from ebay so I can't knock them that much..However, remember that dirty relay contacts (if they are fitted) can cause some strange faults..If you find that a relay is clicking in and out it might be worth cleaning the contacts..That said, I don't know anything about the rio's you are using.
  19. You need to look for the section on 'downpowering' the panel, which in the absence of becoming a trade member on the site is what you should possibly be thinking about at the moment. Trade membership offers far more.
  20. "...but my breaker just tripped and my external box started singing..." What's done is done Lwillis, although I agree with you the fact remains that the OP has a problem and we are here to sort it out, You have more than 2000 posts to your credit, surely at least some of them were helpful to 'diyers', that point takes nothing away from your obvious expertise however, which I hold in great admiration. DWdave, how do you know that the breaker tripped before the external warning device activated, were you there when it happened ? Did this occur during the early hours or during the daytime ? Help me out here, what precisely is your 'breaker' being used for.. as a trip for the sounders possibly, or what ? With the fault in situ (not cleared) check the hold off voltage at the warning device (up the ladder..not at the control panel), it should be about twelve volts (or thereabouts)..Let the site know..Did you have a thunder and lightning storm or a power cut last night ? ".....but the panel drops straight out..." on brand new batteries ? Check that battery voltage and ALL the fuses.
  21. Resetting is in the manual..for the second time !!!
