I would charge the RKP out at £75 plus 2 hours labour (but I would include 4 fobs); more if I need to crash the system (although if you're lucky you can default only the codes). I expected approved to be much more TBH.

There are pretty much all of a muchness without letting us know what you expect to happen when the alarm goes off. So making your choice for you, if you just want a bell to ring, most of us here cannot truly recommend any one over the other than their familiarity with the brand. I appreciate as a consumer you are approaching this as consumers do, but this is not Apple vs. Android, all 3 of them will competetently do the exact same thing and last at least 10 years, if looked after.

It will really vary by area and competence, an SSAIB / NSI installer will quite properly charge in the region of £300 I imagine. However, if you were to use a non-approved firm (this does not mean they will do a bad job) it could be half that. I would certainly allow for an absolute minimum of £140-150. But, by changing it to a 9943 keypad you can stop using codes and use plastic fobs, which is a nice upgrade (you don't have to alter anything on the main unit) and you'll never have to open the keypad flap again!

It is unlikely the engineer code would be written down - except - when a builder puts it in I suppose. Once you think you've found it, enter it on the keypad, you *might* have to proceed it with zero, e.g 0 + code (so you're entering 5 digits in total) but try without first. If it says 'INSTALLER MODE' on the screen, you've got the engineer code!

I wouldn't worry about controls until you've had a professional survey the property, and more importantly your needs and expectations should the alarm be triggered.

With those sensors, it will false alarm constantly on a shed, I guarantee it, and then you will not trust it, and then you will remove it, and then when you are burgled, you won't know... That said Y I just bought a metal shed from Amazon as a temporary store so we can get on with doing up the annexe. £100 4 x 6 full height, with a metal raised floor frame, not the usual sat-on-the-patio crap. It's a 'warehouse' clearance product so it'll probably arrive with half the bits missing and need sending back, but until then I thought that was pretty good since they are selling the non-floor model for £250 odd still. Even the door contacts are chinktat contract special. Oddly it's the bells that give these away from the outside, unlike most badge up jobs it seems they really were specially made for this crud. IIRC they supply a 99p grade piezo siren you have to drill to the wall using No.4 screws, they supply the cheapest speaker wire to connect it up via a terminal block, then you put the cover over the top. Yeah as I say pulled a few out, but couldn't reuse a single wire.

I agree it's tat but did think it was unique tat designed and made in China for Yale, never seen anything much like it without the badge? Although I guess at the end of the day the sensors are probably the same as any other reference design with a unique looking case...
