The only reason the ARC would want you to set it up as confirmed would be for Police Response, and the only way you would get Police response would be if you are approved, and in order to be approved you should be familiar with BS and how the product you are installing works.

With respect we are far too busy we dont need someone to find us more work, when we are struggling to cope with what we have. Even sub contractors all have several weeks lead times. This is the one industry that is genuinely short of hands on staff.

He who supplies the kit is responsible for the warranty, Ray you do not have the original invoice for the kit so you have no way of returning it for replacement under warranty. However, you are responsible for your own workmanship, if you do a crap job with lots of loose wires the sparks has every right to charge you for return visits. In my experience I never charge the subby, I just never use them again. So the moral is do a good job and you have nothing to worry about and you will get more work, do a crap job and you wont get any more work and you might get charged for return visits.

Experience is everything in this industry, understanding what can cause false alarms, where not to point detectors etc and at the same time knowing where intruders could break in from, however unlikely it would seem. I would recommend that you talk with your experienced engineers, they can walk you around a building and give you some idea of a typical installation. Just be mindful that Area Building and Content (ABC) all make a difference to what protection level is required.

Charge by the day, although I must say I find it hard to believe that you had not agreed a price with the sparks in the first place. I also find it hard to believe that he has taken you on without first agreeing the price. I quote a price for everything before I do it and agree a price with anyone I take on.

Castle/Pyronix fobs are passworded, there are very few people who can supply you with readers that will work with their fobs.(Me being one of them) Although Paxton say that their controllers will work with any Weigand reader it has been my experience that this is simply not true. You could get dual tech fobs but, you would have to use Paxton Mifare readers, and the fobs your customer has already wont work with the readers. How many doors are we talking?

qfa You are contracted with your security co, they should be taking it up with the ARC. I think your security company were lucky, if your house had burned down and no-one was called, it would be your insurance company that would have taken it up them, and that would not of ended well. They have had a lucky escape.
