  1.

Hi thanks, yeah understand this terminal, its just the sab, and the other just need to know iun order to test it can i just close loop it or will I need the resistor in series with the close loop if you get me

    resistor in series

Why dont you just set the system and see if the bell goes off once triggered,

It's just I've got a job with this panel, everything seems to be working fine apart from the external sounder, noticed last guy wrote down the ext sounder battery was dead, looks like hes also close looped the tamper, & cable used is only a 4 core one!

tested system, with power disconnect, and battery disconnect ext sounder doesn't work on either

    SAB battery failure ?

  2. Don't release anything until you have fully tested it, installers don't like beta testing for free

And when you need to speak to tech support, the line "i have never heard of that before and you are the first with this problem" doesnt work either when installers use forums to talk about kit.

What market sector are aiming at?

  3. We went to take over a large site with a G3 on it, had engineers code changed by losing company connected up the laptop, and it wouldn't connect. in the g3 panel there is no pace to program the downloader ID or system ID so unless you know them you are not connecting to the panel unless you crash it and reprogram it.

When we install a new system them site is then sent to our server which generates a system ID and puts our downloader ID in to the panel, then if we take a laptop to that site the only way to connect to it is to export the file from our server and import it on our laptop.

Might of missed something but where on a G3 can you programe the downloader ID ?

  4. Password, system ID and site ID required in filled in, if its a new site UDL password will do for G2 but once a G3 connects the software gives it a system ID

If you do a automated call via RSS it creates a virgin site and gives the panel a system ID which the only way to get round is to crash the panel, unless you have the system ID

  5. We have full undongled version on server. if you go to site and use laptop that has a version installed and try to connect to a panel that has already been connected to by RSS it wont let you even if the UDL password in the comms is the same.

Any sites that have been connected to via RSS on server we have to export site from server and import on laptop for it to connect, so there must be something going on.

Only have issues with G3 panels

  6. I was under the impression it was still licensed, we still have to fill in a form the get updates

Part Number  Description   R056-CD-L Galaxy Remote Servicing Suite kit with license R057-CD-DG Galaxy Remote Servicing Suite (Network enabled) with one Dongle R058-CD-DG Galaxy User Management Suite, with one Dongle YY0-0010 Additional 1-user dongle for R057 and R058

Doesnt the software generate a password for virgin sites which is unique to your license number ?

    And its not freely downloadable.

  7. I'll ask again "...Could someone indicate how and when the customer actually uses this URN, since at one time it was only of use to the installer..."

Alarm goes off, signalling device send message to ARC, ARC then pass the URN to the Police, no address or anything just the URN

But going of your posts above, i think you have some knowledge and are not letting on.

    Enlighten me...

    Motorbike enthusiast ?

  8.

"...inspector arrived at 8am left at 7pm..."  Eleven hours of Your time..aww ! get real.. can't you see that people are making big money off your back ?

I woudnt have it any other way.

you'll be telling me next that customers these days have to pay for a URN..we used to get them free, for nothing, zilch.. they just tapped out a number on a computer  (if you were police approved, of course)..

So you do know something about the industry then ?

I don't know the industry, only a little bit about troubleshooting and installing security systems.

Met and employed many an engineer who claimed they could troubleshoot,

    You fancy posting your CV

...and whats he going to do?

They've took your dosh, NSI will aways pick something up, unless your a gypo i shouldn't worry.

    Give you his expereince

  9. How much are you paying these people to walk around with clipboards, they must be on a fair packet. Isn't police approval enough without shelling out to these numerous "inspectors" and adding to your paperwork, and taking up the time you could be spending at installations, between this and cctv dpa's the world is reaching the stage where even big brother is watching big brother...who happens to be getting paid to watch another big brother..

You clearly dont know the industry, you need to be approved to get police response.

You need to read PD6662 & BS8243 Some home work for you http://www.chubb.co.uk/Documents/ws-403/Assets/CFS2079%20PD6662%20Standards%20Leaflet.pdf

Jason,  one thing what do you do for data backup ?

You should have posted in trade, could have had a deccussion

  10. Is it your first every inspection, never been approved ?

If so ignore what you hear, the NSI inspectors are very keen, but most times you will find out your are doing stuff thats not needed and they point out easier ways to do it.

I thought we was fine when we changed to the NSI, inspector arrived at 8am left at 7pm and left us with things to put right and to be honest when they explain it its only to cover your ****.

Got a lot of respect for our inspectors over the last 12 years, we learnt a lot from them.

  11. Some history there, never had to use the 24hr support number but when we did have a problem the tech support in scotland was the best ever, phone up with a strange request for links somebody would do set it up write down the configuration and email to us.

Ademco was going to give us as our firmware then they sold to honeywell who aren't interested, shame really good panel but now need to find an alternative due to the price rise.
