Hi My name is Julian, and I run a company in the east Mids area which is SSAIB registered. I thought I would just drop a line in and be cheeky by asking if any of you guys out there are employing engineers, and if so what seems to be the going rate of pay? (Apologies if I'm not supposed to ask questions like that), but i have a few good contracts that has increased my work load and I am finding that I need to spend more time in the office managing, and less time out and about. I look forward to recieving any replies from you, if any one wants to email me replies off group they can do. Speak to you soon Julian

Well, I've been resisting registering for a while as I'm not a fan of web-based forums but I've decided I will just this once! I'm not a security engineer as such, but I do install alarms when I get time. I'm mainly into data and telecoms now after starting out with an electrical apprenticeship from school. I've always been interested in moving towards something in security\IT and hopefully I can expand more in the security direction over the coming months\years after spending the past 18 months - 2 years building up my part in the IT arena. I'm sure a lot of you here are in a similar situation to me with the galactic milages covered every year, I personally am based in…

A short intro, I did thirteen year's in the forces doing this and that and decided upon a change of direction, Guess the direction. After a six week crash course I left with with three lot's of City and Guilds and no experiance. Nine months later I gained employment as the second Engineer in a small local company who specilise in everything CCTV, Alarm's, Access Ctrl,Chubb 5 lever's and so on. Needless to say it was a steep learning curve. And know it's three year's down the line and I'm happy. Scott
