Hi My name is Julian, and I run a company in the east Mids area which is SSAIB registered.

I thought I would just drop a line in and be cheeky by asking if any of you guys out there are employing engineers, and if so what seems to be the going rate of pay? (Apologies if I'm not supposed to ask questions like that), but i have a few good contracts that has increased my work load and I am finding that I need to spend more time in the office managing, and less time out and about.

I look forward to recieving any replies from you, if any one wants to email me replies off group they can do.

Speak to you soon

Julian

hi Julian

I am an employee rather than an employer, but, here in the north west the going rate can vary dramatically from each company and experience of engineer.

It seems to be about £17,000 - £20,000 P.A for your 'basic engineer' with some experience.

If you want 5 years or more experience, though, I reckon your looking at £20,000 and upwards.

(I'm basing this on nothing more than my own experiences and 'what I've heard')

Thanks to all for the welcome, I hope that at some point I can may be be of help with my experience in Telecoms, Data cabling and security work (Hope that doesn't sound big headed), but I assume that's the idea, that we can all help each other out, rather than just take.

Just to give you a bit of back ground, I took redundancy from BT around ten years ago, and took a training course to give me the basics on fitting alarms. I also subbied to a few companies fitting phone systems and Data cabling, and now have my two eldest sons and a subcontractor working with me.

I look forward to working out how this site works and how to get the best out of it.

Regards

Julian

From another ex BT who took the cash & ran aprox 8 years ago (never looked back either) welcome
