I'm not sure how exactly the prox reader / keypad will be setup but I don't intend to use the prox reader.

If you lose your keys, you lose the security of the alarm system when the keyprox goes with them.

Anyone who knows of ICU and can tell me anything about them would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks

I've seen plenty of (in my opinion) "thrown in" installs by both SSAIB & NSI registered firms and complaining to both regulatory bodies about a firm can be long winded.

Apologies for diversion but today was a case in point. Had to move a camera put in about 4 years ago by a major 'regional' NSI Gold company (and have been NACOSS etc... for years and years) due to an Air Conditioning unit being placed in front of it by the aircon guys!

Here we go...

Taped up joints with choc-blok rather than BNCs at the outdoor JB

(which was second hand and no longer quite IP65 as it had a 25mm hold drilled in the back letting all the water and **** in, morons!!)

Standard 13A fuse left in the fused connection unit

Earth wires not sleeved in the FCU or PSU box

Used 1.5" no eights to hold up a VERY heavy camera unit

Rubbishy 4 core alarm wire used for the PSU

They also couldnt be bothered to wire up the built in 230v demister

And this is just a 1 camera system outside a loading bay! It clearly hadnt been

DIYed, because it all looked about 4 years old too.

As usual you darent tell the client really, they just think YOUR the

muppet for taking 5 hours over a simple job because you have to do more

than just move a few cables.

As for the mess above the office ceiling from the very expensive networked prox syste, WHERE do thes guys get their training!? Grrr....

:realmad: Rant over, again!

So in short, yes, go on recommendation AND certification!

Stu.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

With the existing alarm in place i don't know if they would have to place new wires again? Seems a waste with cable runs already there.

Do they HAVE to replace the wires because of their certification?

Thanks

Do they HAVE to replace the wires because of their certification?

Basically, no. Some companies will replace all cables on upgrades as a company policy but most will test and re-use existing cables.

[sorry I havent read the entire thread] but if your existing installation looks a bit DIYish then they would probably want to do a complete re-fit to avoid the tin of worms scenario.

The existing installation has been professionally fitted, all cables are either under the carpet or they come down from the ceiling above, they are very well hidden.

Hi,

I have been offered the following system fully installed, maintained and guaranteed for a full year.

Scantronic 9751 Panel and 9730 keypad

1 X Door Contact

7x Intellisense Pet PIR Sensors

2x Panic Buttons

Internal Sounder

External Sounder and Dummy Box

Monitoring with custodian @£20 a month Full Nacoss/SSAIB Police Response

All the above for £600 fitted.

Does this seem quite reasonable?  It has been quoted by a very large firm local to me.

Any advice would be greatly apreciated

Thanks

Should be a 9930 keypad.

And that is an LCD keypad.

Checkhow they are going to install to meet DD243, are they fitting a 934 prox?

If not have you signed to accept no conf on entry?

£500 inc for that Galaxy system!! Do you want the prox next to the keypad?

Thought the PROX SA was against NSI rules due to no audit trail?

Just been speaking with ICU again who have informed me about the prox etc and this it will have to replace codes.

It is fully DD243 compliant and then the new EN501 is it?

I am going to go for the Galaxy system as it seems an amazing offer. I have today been to see one of their installs nearby to me and it was of top quality.

I am very impressed with the quality of their work and overall the price. I don't see how it can be beaten??

I have also checked and on top of the £500 for the kit I am only bound to 12 months of Monitoring and Maintenance at a cost of £240 all inclusive and not five years as some companies insist.

They are telling me they will fit an XS7 sounder but as I have not heard of it what can you guys tell me about it?
