When I was 17 in R&D I used to work for a company that made surge protectors. the ones that go on overhead cables have real bullets in them, they are put together by hand in a bullet proof box with two hand holes with a bullet proof screen so you can see what your doing.  They tested them in a similar box without the hand holes

Strange times those , I had a part time job , dowty electronics , testing disposable sonar
