It was an ok system on its own but I didn't really like the zone splitting either , it seems was easier than scrapping the whole panel

i believe the 9800 launched 1988ish with a white a4 manual which became a better quality a5 grey booklet ?

I have the a5 (vinyl binder) collection somewhere branded Modern Alarms, covered most scannys of the time iirc.
