ADE Optima Compact

Featured Replies

Because I don't have a thing about upgrading just for the sake of it, an ADE Optima is a perfectly adequate panel for a lot of small domestic properties. Simple to install and easy to use, they work out well for a lot of people.

  • The battery is quite probably faulty and as Peter James pointed out, the charging circuit may also be faulty now. You could try replacing the battery and checking the charging circuit output with

As above you can try a new battery and power cycle it. However, if you don't test the controls and there is a fault it will wreck the battery and become unreliable again

All LED panels are fine until something goes wrong at 3am, then you'll have no clue what is happening, worse if you're a DIYer. Absolutely mad to even consider one given the price of any half decent LCD panel.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

Seems we're going to have to agree to disagree again. How many times have you asked a customer with an all seeing / dancing alarm what the log says, only to get the reply of : Um what log ?.

Forget I asked, just realised who you were on about: Our resident troll.

I see no issue with LED panels, in fact for a DIYer they are more likely to come with basic instructions and have success at a working system.

Saying that I personally wouldn't fit one any more for the extra cost it's worth it for "full panel" features, like EOL or a decent sized event log.

Agreed: The reason for suggesting the same panel was for the ease of a DIY swap out and as you so rightly point out the strongest possibility of a first time fix.

I like the optima accenta etc. Not a high end panel obviously but perfect for the little things. I'd install them if they were grade 2
