Abacus problem help please

Featured Replies

Can anyone suggest what is happening here please.

I have an Abacus 6 installation which has recently started to give this problem.

On leaving the house a couple of times this week and leaving through the final exit kitchen door into my garage, I get the usual good set beeps and the system has set.

A couple of minutes while I have still been in the garage, the system has gone into alarm without warning.

On checking the log the message shows CctA 2A ExFx KITCHEN and ALARM, TRBL.

I am thinking maybe a faulty kitchen door contact but would have thought if contact has been unmade, I would have heard the entry warning beeps before going into alarm as I do if I open the door on entry as normal?

Any pointers please?

So garage has no detector?

Maybe sensor playing up, when did you have system service last?

Requires some investigation really , seems your circuit is split , but if it's a tamper fault of some kind , while set can show as alarm from what I rember on those

Garage does have a detector on up and over door but not used now permanently locked, can't remember when last serviced.

how old is that?

Must be 20 years plus!

Could it be a bad connection in the kitchen door contact causing a tamper of some kind?

if there's a PIR in kitchen too, check that as might be same text

Is there anything else in the log past that which could give any other indication?

Might be showing the kitchen door contact first but what caused the activation could be an entry before it as you enter that door to stop the alarm

Have checked either side of the log pics shown but only shows being set 5 days prior and entry info when I unset the system 1 day after the alarm.

I had been away for a few days, must have re-set itself.

Thought about changing the flush door contact as a starter.

The kitchen PIR was not active as only a part-set which I use normally.

Same log info shown when what I described in post #1.

Are you sure you've not full set it by mistake?

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Put chime in door contact

Close door

Give contact a light tap to see if it chimes

With the zone splits, wasn't there a 'B' terminal in Abacus brand PIRs for a 2nd circuit (but shared tamper??), or couldn't you use a splitter box? And wasn't the split thing just glorified EOL using unpublished values?

Just wondering if that, as well as a ropey contact/connection could be an issue...

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
