I do that all the time its because you have in your mind what you are going to say when the phone is answered, You know who you are calling and you are checking that this is who you have. I never let plums that answer "this is Matthew " change me from asking if they are Matthew

Exactly, I explained this to someone the other day.

I always answer the phone with "4291"

 

I always answer with "Greater Manchester Police, Fraud Dept."
