May 6, 201312 yr comment_318775 Have used 3rd one down, actually seem quite well built. Its powering a USB powered micro wifi access point off a Scanny 95. Obviously just cut off USB if you don't want it! So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/34489-regulated-5v-dc-supply-from-12v/#findComment-318775 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 May 6, 201312 yr comment_318779 If you order one of the many 12-5V SMPS off eBay, buy two different ones at the same time from different places. I've waited 3 weeks only to get 5 supplies all the same, none of which were good enough for the job. Also, when they say "1A", they are being quite lenient with reality. I have a blog, some of which is about alarm security and reverse engineering:http://cybergibbons.com/ Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/34489-regulated-5v-dc-supply-from-12v/#findComment-318779 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 May 6, 201312 yr comment_318785 The really bad ones were a black box with two screw lugs, one either side. Wires came from bottom side (i.e. no lugs). Seller long gone. There's probably a million similar ones though, so it is very hard to tell from pics.
