zurrieq
After several hours of reading trough these forums I have finally arrived to some conclusions. I am no expert in the subject but I was initially comparing honeywell G2 and Texecom Premier but due to price and installation, I seem to be more in favour of the Premier. This is a new house which is prewired with 6-core from the control panel location to the PIR and key pads. If necessary I can change the wiring but ideally, I stick to the 6-core. I am based in Malta so some UK sevices/options are not available. I am thinking of getting the following: Control Panel - Premier 48 (could also get the 24 but price is not that different) LCD KeyPads - DBA-0001 x 3 PIR Dual Tech - AFB-0001 x 6 (Anti Masking Dual Technology Detector Grade 3) Internal Siren - SB2 KSB2A (Kinetic SB2 KSB2A Quadruple Piezo Sound Bomb Internal Sounder) External box - FCC-0843 Odyssey 3E External Dummy - Odyssey 3E Telephone Connectivity - CEC-0001 - Com2400 Smoke Detector - AGB-0001 x 2 USB Connector - USB-COM A few questions (any answers would be appreciated): First of all, do you think this is a good setup for a house installation or am I missing something? Apart from the battery which I will probably buy from Malta, do I need to buy anything else to cover all the solution and finish the installation? Is the 6-core prewiring suitable to connect these items as EOL? I have read that this is the best way of connecting to the CP so would prefer to choose this option. Would you recommend some other products or brands instead of the items indicated above? Am I correct in assuming that with the Com2400, I can connect the alarm to the telephone line and the system will phone me when there this is triggered. Am I better off with a Speech Dialer? In any case Texecom Premier does not seem to have that option. Do I need to buy any power supply for the units or do they come standard with the control panel? Will all the PIRs, Keypads and smoke detectors, sirens etc get power from the control panel? Is the Wintex Software something I need to buy? Any other comments, recommendations or tips before I purchase are welcome? I know it's a long post but any feedback is greatly appreciated. james.wilson
Assuming you have decided on texecom then. 1. Seems fine but do you need any door contacts. 2. Fused spur? 3. Yes 4. Possibly depends on the demands / req. 5. I don't think it can do that 6. The panel will supply power just ensure it isn't overloaded 7. If you don't have it then yes You would be best of breaking it down into individual posts, ie there is no reason to use same brand equipment, there may be better sensors etc securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. I do not have any wiring for door contacts and prefer to have PIRs. Maybe I am wrong? 2. That's fine. Can buy that locally as well. 3. Fantastic. 4. My requirements are quite simple. 6 PIRs, 2 smoke detectors and 3 keypads. Would prefer Grade 3 and made sense to have it wired considering that work is done. I need to be informed on triger plus connecting to a PC is a nice to have. 5. Hmm.. that is a problem then. What can I use for this system? I need to be informed when the alarm is triggered and the gsm module is too expensive. Can I get something from another company? Texecom's Speech Module is only available to Premier International Series. 6. I will. 7. Ok. Found it for sale on another website. 8. I am not particularly bound with Texecom. I just thought that buying everything from 1 brand will be easier to install and maintain. But I am still in a stage where changing something is possible. I believe that a good brand is a must otherwise I am open to suggestions (subject to price and ease of installation). If I can get a better product for any of the individual items, then I am all for it. As you can imagine, I have no experience with these systems so any help is grealty appreciated. abbz
i would recommend fitting a surge purge filter in fuse spur as have fitted a few alarms in Malta and found the amount of power cuts they suffer caused a few problems.
breff
The com2400 can text (sms) you but not phone you The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

I would recommend at least one door contact on the door that you would normally use to enter the property tbh-you can set a PIR as final or have timed set, but DC is my prefered option.
