How secure is the texecom?
This is a really valid point but good that the changes in V4 are being made, as I was wondering today how long it will be before WPA/WPA2 is compromised just like WEP was, especially on consumer grade routers (i.e the easiest route onto said network). However, whilst a home / domestic network is possibly the easiest to bust, it's probably the least likely to be of interest to serious tealeaves I suppose. What would be interesting are sites with poorly setup guest access via wifi, commercial type places, that use such IoT products. Once access to the network is gained via friendly means (i.e daytime) it would be no trouble to return at night with wifi access from outside the premises...

Small Bridal Shop Alarm and CCTV DIY Options?
As above. Nothing other than the fact I have lower overheads (probably) since I'm not approved, but similar comparison costs due to geography & have every other expense of a small SSAIB co. other than perhaps staff / PT admin. And thus far I suspect that unless the job was pre-cabled I probably couldn't do a neat job for that money and make a living. I guess that others are thinking the same thing.

Digiair is perfect for reluctant customers, although Webway Nano does the same job, or at least it does now with the Nano2 I cannot imagine in a million years why anyone would install a new digi PSTN in 2016.

Small Bridal Shop Alarm and CCTV DIY Options?
Minus insurance Minus SSAIB Minus transport Minus time taken to visit you and quote Minus time to do paperwork afterwards Minus wages for other staff (perhaps) Minus product training etc... attended at own expense And if its done in 4 hours it really will be chucked in.

Small Bridal Shop Alarm and CCTV DIY Options?
Alarm - despite being wireless, too cheap to be installed with any care IMHO as well as being naff. CCTV - Spec OK as a basics but too cheap to be installed with any care Genuine question - how much do you charge per hour for alterations etc... & what is the cheapest and dearest dress you intend to sell?

Small Bridal Shop Alarm and CCTV DIY Options?
If the text messaging service uses the phone line, it is complete rubbish regardless of the brand. It was a good idea at the time, but is totally unreliable now - I really would recommend proper monitoring that doesn't rely solely on a phone line. I would also shy away from any wireless, since I can't believe it isn't an easy small space to wire - they are presumably not concerned about the difficulty of wiring the CCTV. With wireless there will be the constant need to change batteries on a regular basis which is best avoided if it can be...

Setting up dual beam sensors
Bad example TBH as many models are as cheaply made as the rest. Miele I believe have a true vertical factory and only make their own stuff. Mines Panasonic right now, Chinese tat - but with a 7 year free warranty! Good spot, probably half the issue Isn't this Chinese stuff 433 mainly as well though?

Setting up dual beam sensors
Depends, 20 years ago I bought lots of cheap hifi stuff, endlessly upgrading and replacing, if only I'd bought the half decent stuff I still have now I'd have spent a lot less in total. It's a bit like buying 5 £199 Argos washing machines over 10 years vs. £600 for a Bosch that might last 12.

Setting up dual beam sensors
Afraid that siren alone is the giveaway sign of generic Chinese tat. Decent beams are never cheap, though to be honest the pictures of the insides are better than I'd imagined. Usually though, with equipment not designed for the UK, it will be the lack of sufficient sun hours and rain that will kill solar / outdoor stuff like this.
