Agreed texe are a PIA to prog via keypad for a 'casual' user, UDL worth it's weight in gold with them.

Again, the 9651 manual actually lays it out very nicely and explains everything. Start there and then progress to bigger UDL type panels. It's not rocket science but the two intruder alarm textbooks that apply to the UK are pretty out of date.

As above buy a scanny 9651 or similar off ebay and play with it...

Saw something very odd yesterday, in a bank that's been refurbed about 10 times the last ten years, had a Costa added and removed (hmm, guess which bank...) still has the original 2 zone fire alarm panel. In itself nothing much of a surprise, what got me was that the panel was branded Mercury Communications, the actual phone co. Mercury with the logo and everything. Clearly a proper 80s relic. Assume the big sell was some sort of communicator as standard? Guessing C+W have long ditched the biz during their many demergers too...

Won't work. Power drain will be such that the power kit will cost £££££££s to work. Think of the DVR & HDD pulling at least 1A before you even start on the rest. Will require regular battery maint and checks to make sure there is enough current going in not to discharge & write off the battery. All fine as long as someone is prepared to do it, or pay you, or null any warranty if they don't keep it up. Unless customer is the council with endless budget or you want to be endlessly going back for free, I'd personally walk away rather than waste time quoting.

The fact that your source is DVI or TVI or analogue or HDMI or photon fibre optic is irrelevent to your modulator. Unless the people with the TVs are happy to switch their sets to analogue mode just to view the camera, you'll need to upgrade to a digital DVB RF modulator for the TV feed.

This is a really valid point but good that the changes in V4 are being made, as I was wondering today how long it will be before WPA/WPA2 is compromised just like WEP was, especially on consumer grade routers (i.e the easiest route onto said network). However, whilst a home / domestic network is possibly the easiest to bust, it's probably the least likely to be of interest to serious tealeaves I suppose. What would be interesting are sites with poorly setup guest access via wifi, commercial type places, that use such IoT products. Once access to the network is gained via friendly means (i.e daytime) it would be no trouble to return at night with wifi access from outside the premises...
