  1. Technicolour are a heap of ***** but I've never had one that didn't work first time. I've noticed there's quite a few routers now with the loopback blocking turned on.
  2. That panel is obsolete now as has been for a while. I'd reccomend contacting a local approved company and getting it serviced. It will most likely require a new standby battery.
  3. Run 1 8core to each device. And screened cable to the keypad. Extra cable from panel into loft space. And run one into garage for keypad
  4. You'll need to check the trigger type for the dialler It probably -ve trigger so connect it to a programmable output an program a intruder or the bell -ve trigger
  5. The viper, with the led on is the zone clear?
  6. You need to drop the power to it for a few seconds before setting, we used to fit a n/c button on the bottom of the panel or adj the rkp.
  7. Not sure on the older ones but if you go into zones it will give you the option of zones or rf zones.
  8. christ, at a previous firm we were issued with a small 3 tred pair of domestic steps, for the house bashing stuff, instead of using the fiberglass ones. id just stand on a chair TBH lol
  9. I'm going to go to work tomorrow, bell my boss to FO and I want a cherry picker on every job because the ladders aren't safe. Can't use a pair if snips incase I cut myself. Or enter people houses incase I get a splinter from the cupboard door the panels in .
  10. Well I could have climbed up the ladders and stepped off them onto the roof, but the window was an easier option. So has nobody here taken any risks in their entire career? I'm not saying id Hanging off some tray and fit a camera but calculated low risk IMO tasks are okay.
  11. Wasn't that bad of a pitch, I'd say falling from ladders would have been worse. Grass isn't allways greener , especially when people bull **** you in the interview!!
  12. My first call tomorrow is booked for 9am (well between 9-12) in penrith. I'm on the coast near Newcastle upon Tyne. So about a 2hr drive to get to site. I could potentially get a call at 6am be out for 3 hours. Which would mean I'm pushing back jobs and won't get in until late and will miss appointment times. As others have said its not ideal but it's a means to a way. Climbed out of a bedroom window the other day and stood on a small pitched roof to replace a Bell. ( longest laddders wouldn't reach over the small extension). Wouldn't get a cheery picker in either. I decided the risk was okay to do it.
  13. That rule Wouldn't work for me. Last place I worked at had the rest time but I usually ended up going in for 9 anyway.
  14. How does that work if you have a call booked for 9am? Just cancel it? If no other engineers are avliable that is?
  15. Yeah was only kidding, I'd have to check my contract if it's in there, but tbh I don't get that many calls and quite enjoy the peace being away from the missus on calls lol.
  16. Call out at 3am , non stop all day since, finished at 6. And then had to take to toilet to bits to see why it's not flushing. Best day ever.
  17. Just released what I wrote was a load of ********. Sod it off to bed.
  18. 1k across tamper, From one side of tamper into 1 side of alarm Out of empty alarm back to panel Aux + Aux- Is the shock self resetting? The older ones wernt. And used to have to fit a normally closed push button on the panel to drop the power for a second for it to reset.
  19. Out eols in panel on takeover and upgrade? I Might be Intrested
  20. Isn't there lots of writing involved in those things? Hope your penmanship is better than your iPad typing
  21. I prefer automagically
  22. I thought I read it somewhere, maybe not. Was something about cross talk. I fitted 3 rios and filled a 2/44 didn't have any issues after they were programmed in.
  23. Did a wireless system the other week, address rf portals 1.2&3 Shows up and enabled all zones l recommended no more than 16 devices per portal ( apparently) Contacts program in straight away, our the battery in detector , leave it for a minuite or two then program in with tamper. Mine wouldn't signal straight away ( fitted 30)
  24. Oh yeah, much better in those days IMO lol Must admit I'm guessing most companies use the same seed code. Depends what the arc can support Aswell . - ours only supports certain scantronic rem reset seeds
