  1. I've fitted a few HIK systems and haven't had any callbacks with faults. For now I wouldn't bother with IP and would go HD-CVI, still 1080p images and the price is usually cheaper than IP.
  2. What are the extra restrictions of CVI over TVI? As far as I can see CVI give greater cable runs, also offers recording in 1080p can be run on cat 5 or rg59 SDI seems like the one with more issues (from experiance) than CVI. Although I have not use TVI.
  3. CVI can handle longer cable runs than SDI without repeaters or loss of image quality.
  4. I have the same van and the eco mode does my head in , can't see how eco friendly it is when instead of just using the battery I then start the engine to have some lights and music on! Transits were good for keeping things running , just had to watch it didn't flatten the battery. Happened once in my old combo van. 3rd party radio sometimes didn't turn off as the key barrel was shot and sometimes didn't turn the ignition off even with the key out.
  5. Might take another look at them. Really fancied the Surface Pro but can't justify the cost for how much its gonna get used.
  6. I looked at those a while back. What are they like to use onsite tho? The specs didn't seem that great I thought the wouldnt be up to the job
  7. What cameras are you using? You can get HD test monitors but I've not seen them for less than a hundred quid. On the Dauha HD cvi cams you can short a link on the cable which makes the output analogue for use with a test moniter.
  8. Orite, don't think I've ever fitted one which hasn't had something switched from it. Hence allways having a common neg. Must be a bug then, I'll try it on my g2 tomorrow, see what happens
  9. You'll need a 0v common link between the main panel and the Powered Rio.
  10. I'd go for the enforcer if it was totally wireless Otherwise Galaxy and RF Portal as a hybrid
  11. It would be easier to use a keyswitch which would activate a double pole relay. Connect the dialler trigger via relay 1 and a buzzer on relay 2
  12. He could isolate the output from panel to the dialer with a keyswitch and a DP relay (2nd output for a buzzer or led )
  13. Oh missed that bit..... He needs more than one module then Or to build one with enough relays to shunt all the detectors at once. Wouldn't be too bad to sort out. Just watch for the resistor config in the guardalls as there are a few options in the programming.
  14. Probally better off with something like the Cooper zone omit module. As above omit the zone not the dialer
  15. £20 ain't bad.. I've started to find some manufacturers give you a link to download the software rather than having it on a CD.
  16. Don't think I've needed the optical drive on mine for over a year. I do have a USB superdive which I could use if I had to tho. Been looking at this but not sure what it would be like, would only be for occasion use for fire panels etc. http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/ipad-tablets-and-ereaders/tablets/linx-10-tablet-black-32-gb-10100243-pdt.html#cat-0
  17. Didn't think they offered the digi air. That what I was referring too. Nothing against them, some of the best installs I've seen are by the big 3
  18. As above id say Either have a local Telecoms engineer sort the sockets out And switch from ADT to a local-Taking over an ADT system shouldn't be an issue for most locals. Check SSAIB or NSI for a local company Is the system monitored via the telephone line or are they just using the phone line for Remote Servicing ? Its probably not £1k for a new control unit but it depends on what you've got installed already.
  19. As above, they can be locked. Bin it and fit something more up to date. Veritas or Euro Mini
  20. Agility is all wireless tho. I'd recomend a stand alone CCTV system and alarm. Unless its cameras inside rooms your after?!?
  21. Don't think its the cloud, we've got a agility on test in the office and it seems to be connecting to that okay. Try resetting the network settings on the panel. Can you ping it over the local network? not sure what ports the lightsys uses but IIRC the agility was fairly high
  22. Is the new router blocking any ports?
  23. As others have said go for Monitering If you can afford it.
