  2. You have just gone down in my estimation Steve
  3. You couldnt rely on them to prop a door, let alone secure your property Compared to the Omicron it was probably worse
  4. Well hello sailor! Lets see your "huge " collection then
  5. Do you think you might use it if you fix it?
  6. To be fair it is quite hard to think of new innovative ideas, Aaron has come up with a couple of ideas, neither of them are likely to be successful for one reason or another but it is good that he is thinking up new ideas. Keep it up Aaron and maybe one day you will think of something that will change the world.
  7. Opening a port on your router can be a risky, but firstly the burglar would need to know that you have a texecom alrm system, secondly he would need to know a fair bit about hacking, I do know someone who can do it, but he makes enough money not to have to turn to crime. At the end of the day it is all about risk, if your house is full of valuables and is well known for it, then dont use a Texecom panel with the app. If your house is average domestic with the average stuff inside, then I would not worry too much most average burglars wont be hacking your network for drug money. But if you are that bothered there are panels with apps that do not require you to open ports on your router

I had to remove a panel the size of a small fridge, it was full of relays it was a long time ago when I was small and cannot remember what it was, I have an idea it was a AFA panel. Castle 1250, Bentley. Omega, Munford and White, Arun Elite, Racall Countess/Rascal, DA Ambassador or something or other. Been there got the tee shirt.
  9. I suppose you dont have that sort of thing oop north
  10. Depends on how you look at it, I have a 2008 transporter we purchased six years ago for £18k. At 129k miles the engine has gone we have spend at least £3k on it over the last couple of years with stuff failing plus servicing of £500 per year so total cost £24k divided by 6 =£4k pa we have just purchased a three year old Traffic for £5k if it lasts two years it will be better value for money. I have had a quote for engine rebuild at £4k I can buy a similar example for £6k on autotrader so do I spend £4k so I can sell it for £2k or do I try and sell it as is? Or do I just scrap it? My plumber has a transporter, it spends more time in the garage than it does on the road
  11. Just watched the local news people chose to use the cheapest car parking service they could find, only to find that their car had been parked in a muddy field with the key left in the ignition. They co apparently lost some of the cars, cant think how. I suppose to some people saving money is more important than value for money, I love saving money myself, but I do my homework not just choose the cheapest.
  12. I have to admit the same thought went through my mind, along with its a good job that banks dont use them
  13. Yeah I know what you meant, lets just say I didnt make a claim but it probably would have been better if i had
  14. We nearly had to make a claim when one of our engineers dented four corners of a brand new industrial unit with his ladder whilst fitting cameras. Makes my piss boil thinking about it
  15. They come with £50 phones too

  17. Please read the Do's and Don'ts marked in red if you cant be bothered with these rules we wont be bothered to vet you. Currently as a standard member you can only see/view about 50% of the forums in our community, the rest is only view-able upon being given Trade access which is not granted to every member that applies. We try to do the best to vet each new applicant to try and ensure they are actually in the trade, so firstly if you object to this please do not apply, secondly you should appreciate that this process takes time, so don't apply if your not prepared to wait (up to a few weeks sometimes) for approval. We vet active members 1st so get posting to jump the queue. You join on the understanding that what goes on in the trade forums stays in the trade forums, this is an area where views are freely expressed and the occasional heated debate may occur. We have a vast resource of equipment manuals, information and advice, which is entirely generated by our trade members efforts on an unpaid basis. Although we appreciate not everyone will have additional information to provide we still expect discussion and input or a regular basis from all trade members. Periodically we may downgrade trade members who (in our sole opinion) either do not visit often enough or who post very infrequently. Read Carefully: APPLICATIONS THAT DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE BELOW WILL BE IGNORED · DO NOT apply for trade membership/access unless you are already a forum member. · DO NOT apply if you are not active in the Fire/Security/CCTV/Access control Industry · DO NOT apply if you have not already made a minimum of 5 posts on the forum · DO post in the public forums while awaiting vetting as this may help speed up the vetting process. · DO NOT apply for trade membership/access unless you have made 5 or more posts.
