Looking for some more opinions on this sounder. I would normally prefer to fit a Novagard, but I can't get them easily now, so I'm looking at the XS3D as a replacement to keep with the Gardtec theme. I've had a search and opinion seems split straight down the middle on these boxes. A common issue seems to be the strobe not being bright enough, which is not too much of an issue. I'm also not too concearned about them being apparently a bit of a pain in the ass to fit. What does concearn me is that some people seem to think it's cheap rubbish that isn't all that loud either It's either the XS3D or one of the Texecom boxes. I prefer the look of the XS3D to any of the Ody…

We tend to use the CQR MULTIBOX but spoke to helen at cqr and they informed me that they don't do two tone external sounder's. Anyone know any one that does two tone sounders instead of the screeching piezo would be much appreciated. Oh hi to everyone by the way.

Poll question says it all really. I've fitted a few of them now and to be honest, I don't think they're all that bad. I know the tamper switch is annoying, the LED's that go crazy after a couple of months look rubbish and the nut that you have to put in before you screw the thing to the wall is a bit fiddly but apart from that, it's loud, it's pretty reliable by the sounds of things, it looks alright, the LED's and strobe are brighter than most and it has a big area for screen printing etc? Given the choice, there are other boxes I'd prefer but I think it's "alright" personally.

I currently use the pyronix Belle in black and to be honest it has not given me any problems, it is very common now and i was just wondering if anyone else made a black sounder it could be compared with as a possible replacement for future installs?

Finally ran out of my existing screen printed covers for the crappy belle. Just applied for my new 0800 number, so now is the ideal time to switch sounder and get some lids screen printed up for it with the new number which Im getting confirmed this week. So, Chris recommended the texe oddy 2or3, Ive seen the hexdene and fitted one and had to replace it due to a faulty tamper switch, so not keen on the hex's. What do you guys recommend and use yourselfs also?? Dave.

The above quote is from a different forum. I gave this advice to someone, who had bought a new bellbox. Below is a quote from the same thread, implying that the sounder and strobe must be activated together?? Is there truth in this??

Been having a lot of trouble with one of our installs! Its a Texecom Premier 24, plastic boxed v1.7 which is monitored. The alarm is working fine apart from every 3 weeks or so, in the middle of the night the bellbox triggers on its own, usually about 12:30 - 1:30 at night and this happened (according to the customer) at least four times and goes off for about 15 seconds each time but only for one period. We have changed the sounder twice and still the problem persists. It triggers with no event in the log so we cannot explain it. The lady lives on her own so some of us think that she is imagining it but the neighbours are backing her up! She is 100% sure it is our …
