Joined a while back and found the site very useful and interesting. I did an electronics apprenticeship ( early nineties) with a small company that designed manufactured and installed Datacomms, security products and control panels, We did alot of alert systems in schools and care homes and some domestic systems (Gardiner and FM Electronics systems) also spent alot of time installing and maintaining control panels on ready mix concrete sites, nice enviroment for electronics! For the last five years have been working for a building refurbishment company doing mainly domestic electrical installation work also worked a few weekends for a Electrical contractor working in …

Hi, I'm Nige, a fire commissioning engineer based in the West Mids. Also deal with Emergency Lighting CBU's, switch tripping CBU's & nurse call but no security, cctv or access (thank goodness, what I do work with is enough thanks!!). I work for a Gent SI company so Gent products are our main business but also use Kentec & Morley for detection and Vesda & Airsense for HSSD. I used to work for Chloride Bardic which is where I gained my CBU & battery experience. At present we seem to cover anywhere from Manchester to Eastbourne including Kent (and all in an eight hour day door to door!). Well, enough of me prattling on, I suppose I'd better get out there t…

Please forgive for intrusion to your site. But, I found it quite fascinating. I have been involved in the industry for 30 years now. BUT not in the U.K. I'm right smack in the middle of the U.S.A. Kansas City Missouri to be exact. I don't know if I can help or hurt your community. But, it is nice to see a site like this. My field work came to an abrupt halt about four years ago when I was run over by a truck and as a result had about five vertebrate jacked. Since then I've been working at a major distributorship here. I kind of miss hanging off the top of a ladder, or having the bit seize in a hammer drill but, I still like this industry. I thought asking a guy with the …

Hi Just making an introduction. I have dipped into this site a couple of times to try and understand Security/Burglar Alarms and have been impressed with the information here. It's a good site, I'm always impressed with professionals that are prepared to give their time to us DIY'ers. I am a Property Developer in the real world, as yet I have not had the need for a Burglar alarm in any of my properties but I have just taken on some student lets and am considering my options on those. I cant think of a suitable configuration for a student house, 4/5 sharers, any ideas? $My main purpose for visiting this site is for my home where I am looking to install…

Hi all, name's Paul, been a sparks since leaving school and spent all of my working life as a Sparks, fire engineer, intruder engineer, CCTV sometimes and loads of access and intercom stuff. Specialised in Gent fire alarms and Morley for many years. I did almost all of the electricial and fire/access breakdowns on the company I last worked for (15 years) but sadly they now pay unskilled workers the same rate as skilled! Said bye bye to them over that and the non existance of any prospects with them. That said they allowed me to experience almost every sort of job you could imagine, from fixing printing machines, chicken house alarms, road salt brine mixing machines, sw…
