December 22, 200520 yr comment_79963 There's a bit in 50131-7 about joints and soldering.. I still encase the joints in a JB, but don't use the mechanicals of them. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool. December 22, 200520 yr comment_80003 I never solder / tin panel connections in case modifications need to be done at some point in the future.Joints, for example in a pir to add extra ccts are either soldered or crimped with 99a crimps. Regards Bellman Is that the RS ones? Any more info on them, i have used some in the past for pre-wired contacts. December 23, 200520 yr comment_80051 What i usually do if i need to carry on to another detector, is break In the the cable by just leaving a loop in the first detector and then breaking the sleaving cutting the ones you want leaving the ones to carry through, but if its an addon, i would be able to do this, i always solder and either heat shrink (If i have any) or tape up.Dean WTF Jef Customers! December 23, 200520 yr comment_80056 WTF Jef So you have never done this.... ie when you supply a PVC window with 1 cable and hide inside the plastic window, so you dont see the wires, and you have a contact and a siesmic, you let the wires carry through to the Contact or vice versa, that way they DONT have to be joined. Nothing wrong with that Jef, so why the face Watchdog Security (Manchester) Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/8638-to-solder-or-not/page/2/#findComment-80056 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
