I ripped a few out myself, I do agree, not one of the best panels out there I hoped you remembered to douse them in flamable substances (as well as all the **** 6's )and dance a mery jig around them singing Halleluiah. Regards Bellman -

Ah, so you agree with me the texecoms are low end. They are but there is better availible. The local ford dealer throws in free floor mats, you have to pay for them at the local BMW Garage As with most things in life, you get what you pay for... Well, considering Ash group bought Lander, who had the predicessor to the Big G (The Executive) made for them by a small new co called microtech well before ash group got involved then probably it'd still be in private hands and would have hopefully flourished. I'm not going to go over old ground again, but as you say, it's unreliable, noisy (mains hum like an electric motorized wasp on speed) and in my opinion has an eyesore of a keypad. I had a hell of a time with them many many years ago and as with all "fingers burned" episodes that was me and the veritas finished. Try making extensive use of the search facility so kindly provided by Dave and all will become clear as to why i'm set in my opinion. Scantronic kit is good, the reason I recomended the premier was the easy to follow instructions. A Proper engineer would know how to wire a tamper loop or a powered detector to a panel so wouldn't need the same type of instructions as provided with the texecom stuff. I've already made my recomondation BTW, for DIY fit a premier. any electrical wholesaler or market stall (I kid you not, the local market has them for sale) will supply you one and most of the accessories are also available and the price is cheap, you can buy a complete premier system with all the accessories FITTED for less money than you could buy a galaxy panel on it's own for. Most people will have absolutely no use for most of the advanced functions the galaxy provides though so from a functionality point of view there is no difference in them buying a premier or a galaxy, Myself, I have an all singing and dancing galaxy 504 installed. but there again, I'm a professional alarm engineer so know how to both wire and program it to make best use of it's facilities and functions. I didn't say it wasn't, I said it's Distribution made it DIY, not it's construction. Same person wrote both manuals..... Regards Bellman -

Rubbish, both are availible to DIY and virtually ALL DIY alarm sites I see sell them. I know several pro companies that won't touch them because of this. I'm not saying they are a bad panel (thats reserved for the veritas) but DIY definately. You only have to look in the engineering manual to work this out, Peter and Jane diagrams for everything Regards Bellman -

Look at the oddesy 3 from texecom, most electrical wholesalers sell them. What part of sheffield are you in? Try sharrow electrical on sharrowvale road. Regards Bellman (also in sheffield) -
*QFA* The panel can be reset to it's factory defaults quite simply. you need an engineer familiar with this panel. Regards Bellman

I thought our lass had moved all those While we're on the subject, i've come across several items that customers have "mislaid" including a 2 foot long double ended "toy", a few whips, the usual collections of pr0n and illicit drugs (teenage lads bedrooms usually) and several bats/sticks and knives. Regards Bellman

I'm not as old as you guys But I remember the A&G BS80, The first panel I ever played with. fiddled with some BS80 super's as well. I came across an old metal cased logic four in a buttie shop last month Regards Bellman

I'm right on everything On a lighter note, i've been invited down to the texecom facility to see how they manufacture stuff and discuss any probs I have with their equipment, this i will say, at least their open to discussion.. as for comparison with galaxy, get real, galaxy will trounce it... come back and the point when you've a few years experiance under your belt Regards Bellman

I'll bring my own dettol Regards Bellman

As for getting a back rub, every "sauna" in sheffield does everything else but I'll have to talk nicely to the better half to see what she can do regards Bellman

Mike, He probably would find the Texecom better suits him, I just gave my experiences of their equipment.. and I never suggested he should put a galaxy in. I wouldn't put one in either as most domestic customers wouldn't appreciate the differences between the different panels, most go for what looks good. (which is a shame). Yes, you are quite right, it would be dull if all was the same. Variety is the spice of life so they say.. As for chilling out, I try my best, But I do get a little "tense" at times. Best Regards Bellman

What has politics and my employer got to do with my opinion of the texecom panels? I have spent over 8 years looking after them, so i'd say I'm experianced enough to comment. and as for your comment on "does everything the galaxy does", are you on drugs!!! the Galaxy will wipe the floor with the premier, and do remember how old the galaxy range of panels are... NONE of the big co's use texecom equipment. (but most use Galaxy, funny that) and if your quoting for inferior (cheaper) equipment, you will gain contracts from us, but there again, we will prob gain them back in a year or two when they break down. remember what i said in a previous post, buy cheap, buy twice. why don't you quote your customers for the same equipment (sorry, i forgot, you can't as billy boy electrical wholesalers don't stock galaxy ) as //.National Installer.// quoted and then see how competitive your quote is in comparison. or would that not get you enough jobs? It's easy to undercut the nationals when you fit tat. telling the other user to ignore my comments is a bit unjust as I was asked for my opinion and i gave it. also I did mention that several people use them and nothing else. Oh, and to clear any confusion up, I started installing texecom stuff several years before i came to //.National Installer.// so my opinions of them are nothing to do with them. do try to get your facts straight next time. Have a go at my employer if u wish, but since when does who i work for cloud my opinion of equipment? so to finalise, where's your problem, with //.National Installer.// or with my comments, as you are muddying the waters by dragging my employer into the fray.. Regards Bellman

So what does that tell you about the panel??? Regards Bellman
