Should've bought a house over here - although part of the UK Part P does not apply! (although there are sparkies telling punters otherwise). :fear:

Not really. Capping is for protection from plasterers trowels. It is not for protection against drill bits, screws and nails, which is just as well as it doen't protect against much really.

Hmmmm......... :hmm:

The metal capping is supposed to offer a level of protection. The plastic is useless.

the inductance was supposed to be a wind up.

Humour is wasted on some people.

Service Engineer and all round nice bloke :-)

The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.

Well, it does a bit, but not really much. It still isn't required anyway so it doesn't matter whether he's not used plastic or metal.

Hmmm....

Chewie it seems like you have taken offence.

Like service eng stated, we have to do things to regulations, its our business.

I know the work was carried out pre Jan 05 but i am guessing other work will be required with your alterations planned?

We get involved in a lot of testing and finding hidden 'jems' like cables plastered in walls and no grommetts always makes life difficult and as we are the ones signing the cert we need to be aware of these things to point out the problems.

Electricity kills and its not a belittling matter, we dont go to college and pay huge fees to NICEIC ECA and the likes for nothing.

We see far too many sub standard jobs which have proved very dangerous.

Do you not think it acceptable for qualified people to comment on a 'DIYER' carrying out electrical work?

Lets face facts, has the installation been tested?

Have certificates been issued?

Please do not take offence but when you see COAX passing through a 32A AC circuit things have to be said.

Well, there's 'in force' and 'applicable'. If the job was started pre 01/01/05 then as long as it was completed pre 01/04/05 then it would be exempt from inspection.

Just thought i`d be pedantic & join in on the chewie bashing. Poor fella :P
