Unless it's mechanically protected. Concrete's a new one though.

So chase out a 2 inch plus groove for the cables to sit in and risk the integrity of the lintel. There was no way under it or behind it that was the only way to get the cable to the wall.

Quite. That little bit of a groove there is much less of an abhoration than some of the other pictures so in the grand scheme of things.......

On the plus side, some bits look fairly tidy. For instance, never seen anyone use so many clips on half a dozen 6" lengths of cable under a floor!

There is actually a right and a wong way up.

If they are prestressed, or the reinforcing bars are at the bottom.

This is an economy lintel which can be fitted either way up.
