gazza_2
Hi i am currently replacing my old alarm with a Visonic wireless system but after fitting some of the pet PIR's I am finding they are not very sensitive at all, they do work and I have moved them down the wall a bit but they still don't seem that good. Has any one got any tips or is this normal? Thanks a lot, Gary
sixwheeledbeast
They're are not great pickup on the default settings and are useless outside the strict mounting height in the manual.

Do they have a settle down time like the Honeywell , they trigger once in 3 mins something like that?
gazza_2
Sorry when you say default setting is there a setting to make them better?
james.wilson
Its a whole other topic but 'pet' sensors are awful especially the cheap ones Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. gazza_2
al-yeti, that's what I was wondering Are the Visonic one's classed as cheap?
sixwheeledbeast
You can lower the pulse count but you'll loose the pet friendly mode. Yes they are one way, so also sleep for a few minutes in normal operation mode. It's one way and pet friendly I wouldn't expect much guaranteed protection from it. I think so yes, acceptable but low end. A decent hard wired pet tolerant sensor is more than a wireless visonic one. But i dont like them as a theory. If you have pets then peremiter protection is the way to go imho Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. In practice it's the right idea to go perimeter, just unfortunate the kit your working with.

So as said they sleep, that might also throw you, if you testing the exit zone for alarm when it was already triggered or asleep

gazza_2
yes I have just looked at it I think is on the panel event counter (event counter: Here you determine whether an alarm will be activated upon continued motion (low sensitivity) or upon a single alarm event (high sensitivity).. Optional settings: LOW sensitive (default) and HIGH sensitive.) is this correct as their is noting on the PIR itself
james.wilson
Is that double knock for a wireless sensor that goes to sleep... That'll work well 1 Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. sixwheeledbeast
High and low sensitivity in panel end and pulse count is per sensor, they are completely different things.
