One snazzy thing on CFW is that we dont have to call them for TS theres a button in the software that tells them to call us. Not that we have to press it that often. The sware is growing on me just as I find something irritating and I think this is crap, someone shows me how I should do whatever it is I was trying to do and, it turns out that its easier than AM. The best part is it doesnt fall over evry 5 minutes like AM

TBF I have used all three of the main contenders now all be it I used the dos version of (I cant remember its name)

I also used Kiss for windows which looking back I think was probably quite good but the administrator I had at the time was not so good. I am very used to AM, and that makes it that much harder as CFW is quite a bt different. You can open as many windows as you like, have several customer data bases open at once, which is handy as it means you dont have to close what you're doing to look at another customers folder or sales enquiry ect. The same with the diary you can have several instances of the diary open or customers open or sales enquiry open. At first I found this annoying clicking on minimised tiles only to find it wasnt what I wanted, but as long as you close the folder when you are finished its not so bad. It is very quirky and I am managing to get used to the quirkyness.

 

Probably my only moan is I said at the very beginning that I didn't want every model camera in the products, with Filemaker I used to update a camera when it was superseded as models change weekly. Cash said that I should just add more models and I was out voted by admin, but as I predicted when writing a quote now I have hundreds of cameras to hunt through most which are obsolete, and none have any sort of order to them. All we needed was IP or analogue bullet or dome. The Irony is that Admin have stopped adding cameras to products. CASH said that it would feck up the PO for returns etc if we dont add the correct model numbers I said we will just have our own product number and change the manufacture part number in products as we stop using it. I may see if I can delete some of the old ones I am not sure if that will have a effect on anything else though

Can you retire products & have a template spec ?

Winsims  thats right I used dos sims when I worked for someone

 

Ill find out if I can retire a product that would be the way forward

that's why I did lists on TSI, as I forget stuff

 

I also note whether I ask anyone for anything I wait a week(s) then chase, my mongs think I'm going to cost then fit within hrs for pennies...

With AM if you updated your WSS External Sounder 2000

 

From say a CQR integra to say a Texecom Odyssey, all the old specs would be overwritten with a different db rating or "twin leds" or whatever the minor differences are

 

So retiring WSS External Sounder 2000 & creating WSS External Sounder 2001 would be the way its done ?

CASH was always a serious contender except for the PDA which is absolutely appalling. Worse is Mentor have no plans to fix that issue and therefore it’s a non starter.

 

I’m told all HIK codes are to a simple system. Messing about with part references will mess things up, Penny’s worth. Don’t buck the system.

Bizarrely the phone ap is one of my favorite things about CASH.

 

I love the way we can set write your own PM jobsheet questions and force engineers to answer stuff before moving on.

 

I had to do a few stints as an engineer during Covid and I found the app really easy to use once I got my head around it. But I loved to Sat Nav Feature combined with the enroute arrived and finished feature means we know where the engineers are not just where they say they are. I never lost connection unlike when we had the AM pda's, they were always disconnecting from the server. But to be fair this was long before the days of 4g and 5g
