Hi, 

 

We have had a pm360 system with the gateway box and a seperate keypad to set the alarm with (nothing visual at all). 

 

We have had the system for nearly 3 years and I am looking at alternatives.

 

Will it be cheaper / easier to purchase a new system entirely, or will it be better to do a full hard reset of the adt system to try and use it as a standalone visonic alarm? (once the contract has been cancelled of course. 

 

I am tech savvy, no issues with fiddling with things!

Pretty sure Visonic ADT is not compatible with off the shelf Visonic.

Exactly this is what made me suspicious, if it was locked to ADT then their wouldn't be a second hand market on ebay?

People put any old tat on ebay. It would be the only place to buy it, if you think about it that way.

Bit like second hand Sterling keypads and iD biscuits for example...

If anything this probably increases the value on the likes of eBay, they do use a slightly different freq, not locked but only compatible with like for like rx.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Just search visonic ADT on eBay plenty available , used and new 

 

But you need to find out how much ADT charge to reset it for you , or you can try and default it yourself
